Flash Player bundled with Windows XP is buggy,

admits company

Computerworld - Microsoft today confirmed that the

version of Flash bundled with Windows XP contains

multiple bugs, and urged customers to upgrade to a

newer edition of the multimedia player plug-in.

Flash Player 6 contains numerous vulnerabilities.

Adobe discontinued security support for Flash

Player 6 in 2006.

"Adobe has addressed these vulnerabilities in newer

versions of Adobe Flash Player.

Microsoft recommends that users of Windows

XP with Adobe Flash Player 6 installed update

to the most current version of Flash Player

available from Adobe.“

The current version of Flash Player is

10.0.42.34, which can be downloaded from

the Adobe website.

Windows XP users who have regularly

updated Flash Player on their PCs have little

or nothing to worry about.

Chrome OS will be targeted by attackers, probably even

before it's officially released says the director of threat

management at antivirus vendor McAfee Inc.

"The same thing happened to Windows Vista and Windows

7, even before they were finished. Since Chrome OS is new,

it's going to be of interest to security researchers, and it's

going to be poked by cybercriminals as well."

Google Inc.'s Chrome OS will be "poked" and

attacked by hackers in 2010, in large part because

it will be the "new kid on the block,”.

They're gunning for Acrobat Reader and Flash,

according to McAfee

Hackers usually target the most widely used products

in order to achieve the maximum impact. For a long

time that has made Microsoft their primary target. But

the software giant has tightened security in its recent

OS releases, leading hackers to look for additional

targets

Adobe will be top target for hackers in

2010.
