Greetings!
Many of our TLC members have now returned home after a year of rewarding travel adventures. In this newsletter we would like to welcome home the ladies who travelled on our tours to South America; Turkey; Austria, Slovenia & Croatia; Sri Lanka; Japan and Spain, Portugal and Morocco. You will find a few of our favorite photos from these tours over the page!
On returning we are often asked to name a highlight and it can be very difficult to select just one!
After our recent Austria, Slovenia and Croatia tour, highlights mentioned were many and varied. Some noted were the beautiful Lake Bled, Plitvice Lakes and the cruise along the Croatian Coast. While our Turkey tour members mentioned the Gallipoli Battlefields, trekking through the Rose Valley or drifting in a hot air balloon at dawn over Cappadocia. It is often the unexpected that becomes a personal highlight and these experiences can open us to new ideas and desired destinations to explore. The Whirling Dervish performance in a caravanserai in Turkey left some dreaming of a journey along the Silk Route, and the Croatian cruise left others dreaming of another Mediterranean cruise.
We hope our members who have been travelling in 2015 have enjoyed their adventures, which were packed full of wonderful highlights and you have returned home inspired to travel again to far off lands. TLC members who have not yet planned their 2016 adventures - we hope you find the perfect suggestion in these pages!
There is no doubt that the most rewarding of all the highlights for us and all TLC members is the wonderful friendships formed through the club. We feel very privileged to be part of this and again we would like to say a very big thank you to you all!

Recently I had the pleasure of escorting a wonderful group on our tour of Turkey. our first stop, after enjoying three days exploring Istanbul’s spectacular sights, was Gallipolli. a visit to anzac Cove is always a moving experience and was made more so for us as within the group we had two relative’s graves/ memorials to find.In the days that followed we visited the ancient cities of Troy, Pergamum, ephesus and aphrodisias. every ancient city has something different to offer and they were all brought to life by our wonderful tour guide, Yaman, who told us he had once worked as a guide for another Tasmanian – Princess Mary and her husband Fred! Nothing but the best for us either! We visited the white calcium terraced pools of Pamukkale and enjoyed shopping for leather jackets and carpets. We travelled to the Mediterranean coast for a relaxing four night stay near the fishing village of kas. With temperatures unseasonably high in the mid 30’s, many of us appreciated the opportunity to swim while here. Water aerobics was enjoyed by some while a little Raki was enjoyed by others. Highlights while staying in Kas were visits to Myra Lycian rock tombs, a cruise to the sunken city of Kekova, with its underwater ruins and a cruise to the Greek Island of Meis. After our beach break it was on to Antayla for two nights from where we also explored the ruins and sights of Perge, aspendos and Side. We then headed inland over the mountains to Konya, home of the whirling dervishes, before our last stop, three nights in a cave hotel in amazing Cappadocia with its landscape of fairy chimneys. Turkey is a fantastic destination to visit with so many incredible sights to see and the Turkish people we met were generous, hospitable and gentle.
