In the 6th century the Grand Canal ,Yellow River, Yangtze River were connected. The Yangtze River is in south China. The Grand Canal was built stretching nearly 1,240 miles. The Grand Canal was built by the Sui emperor Yang Di to carry goods. The Yangtze River goes from the mountains to Shanghai. The Yangtze River has been an important trade and transportation route since ancient times.

The Chinese invented wheelbarrows to carried goods around china. The Chinese made wheels stronger so the wheelbarrows can go on bumpy cracked road. The emperor of china made better transportation like repaving the roads and making mail come faster when the Chinese traded, they had different stops. The stops were for horses, so when the horse got tired they had a fresh horse in a shed.
