NEW ULAANBAATAR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT PROJECT
The New Ulaanbaatar International Airport will have capacity for 3 million passengers per annum with
passenger servicing terminal with an area of 37,000 sq.m., asphalt runway strips with a length of 3,600
m and 6 aircraft collars with 96,000 sq.m. area.

As part of Mongolia, Russia and Chinese trilateral
partnership mechanism, to prepare feasibility study
and commence partial works of Regional cooperation
planning center and previously agreed projects in the
infrastructure sector.

ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY AND SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORT
Implementing Projects and Programs
• “Study Report on Environment monitoring and Migrating Wild animal” under
Western Regional Road Development Project, by ADB in 2015.
• JICA technical project for capacity development of improvement of road
pavement design suitable for Mongolian climate condition (2018- 2020).
• Project on Ulaanbaatar City Capital Investment Plan and Financial
Assessment of Urban Transport Service Delivery, financed by World Bank
(2017-2018).
• JICA project on installing Diesel particulate filter for public transport buses in
Ulaanbaatar to remove diesel particulate matter or soot from the exhaust
gas of a diesel engine (since 2017).
• “Study on protecting for wild animals migration along road network (2016 -
2018), “Study on introducing of optimal monitoring system for road
construction technology” (2017-2018), “Optimal development of road and
transportation network within the Framework of Economic Corridor” (2017-
2018) by Science and Technology Fund, Mongolia.

• Passages for wild ungulates along the highways and railways in steppe and

• Safety requirements of compressor station for charging road vehicles with

Expansion Cooperation
• On going study on Recycling end of life vehicles,
Ministry of Road and Transport Development of Mongolia,
Seinan Corporation and Tohoku University of Japan;
• Study on developing sustainable policy and
processing capacity for end of life vehicles in Mongolia
by Ministry of Road and Transport Development of
Mongolia and UNIDO study project, 2017.
• Signed Memorandum of Understanding between
Ministry of Road and Transport Development &
Mongolian Recycling National Association NGO in
June, 2018

CONCLUSION
• To develop State Policies on Road and Transport sectors and
renew Laws on Transport, Railways transport and Civil aviation
in accordance to new requirements and conditions of the
Mongolian Sustainable Development Vision-2030 and newly
adopted legal acts;
• To support open policy to environment friendly and sustainable
transport, to increase investment for building and maintenance
transport infrastructure and logistics networks, projects and
programs that support SDGs, meet social, economical and
environmental requirements;
• To promote transit transport policies and agreements for
reducing travel time along corridors, time spent land borders
and transport costs;
• To integrate International and Regional Transport Network and
enhance cooperation for conducting studies and capacity
building on environment friendly and sustainable transport
policy documents, advanced technologies and projects.
