Course DescriptionTransplantation by the Bay: The TGH Experience is designed
for referring physicians, surgeons, nurses, social workers, case
managers and pharmacists who are interested in the clinical
aspects of solid organ transplantation as experienced at Tampa
General Hospital. The program is developed to encourage the
exchange of scientific and clinical information and support
an interchange of opinions regarding care and management
issues, as well as socioeconomic, ethical, and regulatory issues
relevant to organ transplantation.
Target AudienceThis course is designed for referring physicians, surgeons, nurses, social workers, case managers and pharmacists who are interested in the clinical aspects of solid organ transplantation as experienced at Tampa General Hospital.
Course ObjectivesAt the conclusion of this program, participants will be able to:
1. Discuss the future of transplantation in the era of healthcare reform and public healthcare economic restraints.
2. Summarize the current statistics of graft and patient survival and transplant volume for each solid organ program at TGH.
3. Discuss the selection criteria and referral and evaluation processes for each program.
4. Discuss the management of end-stage organ disease for pulmonary, heart, renal and liver.
5. Discuss the current state of VAD technology at TGH, types of devices and uses.
6. Destination VAD therapy utilization and selection criteria.
7. Discuss new drug therapy options for HCV.
8. Discuss the newest information regarding immunology testing at TGH, use of donor-specific antibodies and PRA reduction protocols.
9. Discuss the current LifeLink donation data.

AccreditationPhysicians
USF Health is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing education for physicians.
USF Health designates this educational activity for a maximum of 9.0 AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Pharmacists
The University of South Florida College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. This knowledge-based program has
been approved for 9.0 contact hours (0.900 CEUs). The Universal Program number is as follows: 0230-0000-11-041-L01-P.
To receive continuing education credit, a pharmacist must attend the accredited sessions, actively participate in the Question & Answer Sessions and must complete the program evaluation instrument. In order to receive full credit, registrants must register no later than 10 minutes after the start of the meeting and must attend the entire meeting.
Nurses
The University of South Florida College of Nursing is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
A maximum of 9.0 contact hours may be earned by learners who successfully complete this continuing nursing educational activity.
Transplant Nurse
Category 1 Continuing Education Points for Transplant Certification (CEPTCs) have been applied for through the American Board for Transplant Certification (ABTC).
Physician Assistants
The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 CreditsTM from organizations accredited by the ACCME.
Florida Licensed Social Workers
USF Health is an approved provider (BAP#433 – Exp. 3/31/13) of continuing education credits for clinical social work, marriage and family therapy, and mental health counseling. This program has been reviewed and approved for up to 10.8, 50-minute contact hours.

Directions from the East
I-4 to I-275 South. I-275 to Exit #39, State Road 60/Tampa Intl. Airport exit.
Follow 60 West crossing the scenic bay causeway through Clearwater to Clearwater Beach.
At the roundabout, follow the signs to Sand Key, heading South, crossing over the inlet bridge to the resort.
Sheraton Sand Key Resort will be on your right, immediately after the Sand Key Park entrance. Enter at second entrance for registration and parking.
Directions from the South
I-75 North to I-275. Exit #30, State Road 686.
Bear left at fork towards St. Petersburg-Clearwater Intl. Airport and Largo.
Merge left onto State Road 688 West.
Follow 688 to continuation of 686 (St. Petersburg-Clearwater Intl. Airport exit).
Bear right on 686, proceed west, dead-ending at Gulf Boulevard.
Right (north) on Gulf Blvd. to Sand Key.
Resort will be on the left, before the Sand Key Bridge.
Directions from Tampa International Airport
Exit airport onto Highway 60 West and cross the scenic bay causeway through Clearwater to Clearwater Beach. Highway 60 will become Gulf to Bay Blvd.
Continue on Gulf to Bay Blvd./Highway 60 West to Clearwater Beach until the road ends at the roundabout.
Follow the signs to Sand Key, heading South, crossing over the inlet bridge to the resort.
