Organized by :- Total Power Solutions Sdn. Bhd. E-mail : tops @ tops-sb.com
COURSE SUMMARY
Due to the complex and difficult nature of the topic of protection, it has always been a subject that most
engineers are not conversant with. Most engineers place great emphasis on becoming competent on
primary equipment so much so that the secondary systems protection, telecontrol & telecommunications
go largely ignored. This course presents an opportunity for engineers to reinforce their knowledge in this
field.
The course is designed for electrical engineers who desire a working knowledge in transmission system
protection. This course would provide a clear insight into the practical aspects involved in the principles,
application, design and operation of protection schemes/devices for transmission networks (HV & EHV
systems and equipment).
The participants of this course will understand the causes, types and implications of faults that can occur in
a power systems. The course will also elaborate on the various protection schemes and devices available for
detecting these faults and their operating principle. The issue of power system stability and its importance
for efficient operation of the transmission system will be discussed .
The course will also provide a broad overview on numerical protection relay technology and the benefitsthey provide in ensuring a reliable and safe power system.

Transmission Grid System Protection For
Non-Protection Engineers
Who Should Attend?
This is an ideal course for
electrical engineers who
have no prior knowledge /
experience in protection.
Young electrical engineers
with no or very little work
experience will find this
course as a very good
introduction to the field of power transmission system
protection.
Professionals with
considerable experience in
areas not directly related to
protection (like operation,
maintenance, project
management, contracts,
system operator etc) will
gain valuable knowledgethat would equip them with
good cross functional
competence.
