SEA-ME-WE 2 :SEA-ME-WE 2 :

The system lands at 13 countries from France to Singapore through Algeria, Tunisia, Italy, Turkey, Cyprus(Southern Part), Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Djibouti, India, Sri Lanka, and Indonesia.

SEA ME WE-2, with an overall system cost of approximately 4.2 Billion French Francs, has been operational since August 1994.

The system operates at 565 Mb/s, and is a fully wet cable of 18 000 km except for the portion between Suez and Alexandria which is routed on land.

Egypt Segment Egypt Segment ( Alexandria-Suez )( Alexandria-Suez )

This is the only segment in which cable passes through land.

Alexandria is connected to Suez through Cairo.

We have Two Lines each line operates at 565Mb/s.

We have Two Routes (working – protection ).

SEA-ME-WE 3 :SEA-ME-WE 3 :

SEA-ME-WE 3 was the first submarine cable system to feature wavelength division multiplexing .

SEA-ME-WE 3 is approximately 40,000 km long linking 40 landing points in 35 countries and 4 continents from Western Europe (including Germany, England and France) to the Far East (including Japan, China, and Singapore) and to Australia.

It operates at 2.5Gbit/s per channel .

SEA-ME-WE 3 is installing now an extension using only two wavelengths each operates at 10Gbit/s .

Egypt segment (segment 7) is the only segment which passes through land .

It connects Alexandria & Suez through Cairo passing in two routes ( as the case in SEA ME WE 2) . One route is working and the other one is protecting .

What we Have in Ramsis Station :What we Have in Ramsis Station :

In Ramsis Station we have a back to back connection on level of 10 Gbps Using KDD-SCS transmission System This Equipment used Erbium Doped Amplifier System.

NATIONAL BACKBONE :NATIONAL BACKBONE :

In National Backbone (SDH rings) we have more than 10 rings cover the whole Egypt Land. These long distance rings Monitor Managed and Control 24 hours 7 days per week from Ramsis Exchange capacities varies from 622 Mbps ( STM4 ) to 2.5 Mbps ( STM16 ).

And carry all kinds of customer traffic which maybe Voice , Data and Video …

SEA-ME-WE 3 NATIONAL :SEA-ME-WE 3 NATIONAL :

We use this project to carry our national traffic between CAIRO and ALEXANDRIA & SUEZ .

It is used to carry traffic to SADAT , KOM HAMADA and 10TH OF RAMADAN as well . As it is connected through this project to CAIRO.

The line capacity is STM-16 (2.5 Gbit capacity ).

Cairo is connected to ALEXANDRIA and SUEZ through 2 routes ( one is working & the other one is protecting ).

As shown previously . Our international traffic is loaded

through Alexandria or Suez to SEA-ME-WE 3 international .

If we have international traffic going from Cairo , we need to carry this traffic through SEA-ME-WE 3 national project to Alexandria or SUEZ then loading it to the international project .

We can load traffic to SEA-ME-WE 3 national project on the levels E1 , E3 , or DS3 .

LRE & DCME :LRE & DCME :

LRE & DCME is used for some traffic going to the international switch .

The use of LRE is that we use one E1 to carry traffic of two E1’s .
