TRANSLITERATIONS MAY VARY, BUT NOT OUR LOVE

QUESTION:Hi brother Lew; I've been listening to a lot of new songs lately so I can compile a new list of anointed music tolisten to (I trashed all the Christian CD's I had! Yuk!). I ran across some names they use in the titles and

songs and I need your help with. I'm very cautious about non-native Hebrew people when it comes to theirunderstanding, learning and teaching of our Creator Yahuah! Where are they getting these names? I can onlyguess its coming from a different language and hoping you may be able to clear this up for me when you havetime.

    and such like these

    REPLY:

As time goes on, we are seeing more English-lettered variations in alternatetransliterations for Hebrew words. Even those whose first language is Hebrew areeffected (over time) by changes in certain letters, such as the second letter BETHsometimes being used as a modern letter V. The English letters V and W areboth derived from the Hebrew letter U or UAU.(see video, ALL YOU NEED IS U on youtube, and research history of letters V

and W on Wikipedia.org, linked below). The Chasidim (ultra-Orthodox form of Rabbinic Judaism) often transliterateMASHIACH as MOSHIACH. This can have a slight jarring effect for us whowant to sound the words accurately, and there are subtle differences. Theirvowels may or may not be correct. What can be annoying is the over-use of apostrophes or accent marks in theEnglish attempt to write the Hebrew words. Some use extra letters thinking they are making it easier for new-comers.YAHUWDAH sounds exactly like YAHUDAH, but still I prefer the moresimplified, knowing that in a century or two down the line there will be a little less

possibility for confusion. The examples you have brought up are fine. The Y is more directly broughtacross than our English letter I since our I is derived from the IOTA, theGreek attempt to transliterate the Hebrew letter YOD. Also, the AL rather than theEL seems viable, since the Hebrew ALEF is used in many Hebrew words wealready bring out as an A, such as ABBA orABRAHIM. The ending -IM ratherthan -AM is a more accurate rendering for the plurality in Hebrew, since theHebrew letters areYOD-MEM.

KEEPING OUR EYE ON THE GOALIt would be ideal if we could all become more unified in our use of the English

letters, but it is unlikely this will happen. We will be restored to the pure languagefully one day, and all of these developments we are seeing should be exciting tosee. But, often the differences are being exploited to cause divisions by thosewho promote their personal preferences over others. This divisive attitude is not

serving the goals of Yahusha (or Yahushua), but rather the enemy, so we have toovercome the division by accepting those who use variations of spelling. Somewould say this is compromise or even confusion; but the goalis not knowledge, itis love. Transliterations may vary, and the worst we can be held accountable inthis is a bad accent. We have to do all we canto facilitate the restoration of thelost tribes of YISRAEL to Yahuahs Covenant, and become overcomers of everyobstacle put in our path toward that end, which is the mission we were given whenYahusha lifted up into the clouds so long ago. Even when the dragon isnt directlythe case for our division, we can produce our own stumbling-blocks through rivalry

and strife by putting others down; and that is caused by pride and jealousy. Wemust lift up Yahusha, not our ambitions to dominate the sheep. He is now working within us to fulfill His mission of restoring the lost tribes, so letstake on His perspective of all things, taking into account that we are all at differentplaces in the race. We all need to remember these words as they are beingfulfilled even now:

Zep 3:8-20: Therefore wait for Me, declares , until the day I rise up forplunder. For My judgment is to gather nations, to assemble reigns, topour out on them My rage, all my burning wrath. For by the fire of My

jealousy all the earth shall be consumed. For then I shall turn unto the peoples a clean lip1, so that they all call on the

dispersed ones, shall bring My offering. In that day you shall not be put to shame for any of your deeds in which

you have transgressed against Me, for then I shall remove from yourmidst your proud exulting ones, and you shall no more be haughty in Myset-apart mountain.

But I shall leave in your midst an oppressed and poor people, and theyshall trust in the Name of.The remnant of Yisral shall do no unrighteousness and speak no

falsehood1, nor is a tongue of deceit found in their mouth. For they shall feed their flocks and lie down, with none to frighten them.

Footnote: 1Rev. 14:5.Shout for joy, O daughter of Tsiyon! Shout, O Yisral! Be glad and rejoice

with all your heart, O daughter of Yerushalayim!
