Chapter 1Introduction

Topics:

• Overview• Graphical User Interface Page Layout

Overview

With the introduction of Clavister CoreOS version 10.x, a new Graphical User Interface was introducedthat changed the look, feel, and navigation used to manage the Clavister Virtual Secure Gateway.

This document provides an introduction to the updated Clavister version 10.x/11 Virtual Secure GatewayCoreOS System. Additionally, it identifies key differences in the Graphical User Interface (GUI) fromthe previous version, Clavister VSG CoreOS version 9.

Graphical User Interface Page Layout

The Home page for the previous version of Clavister VSG CoreOS v9 graphical user interface consistsof the Configuration Components pane on the left providing a list of configurable components such asSystem, Objects, Rules, etc. and main working area that occupies the majority of the page.

The menu items on the left can be selected to expand and display the various components to beconfigured. To the right, the main working area of the screen contains the details of the selectedcomponent and displays the component configuration parameters.

The image below displays a list of configurable components to the left. In the main body of the pageyou see system related information and monitoring graphs.

With the introduction of Clavister VSG CoreOS version 10, the look and feel of the graphical userinterface incorporated new changes. All items are configured similar to version 9, but in the new versionof the Clavister VSG CoreOS web interface a tabbed menu has been introduced.

The tabbed menu is located above the main body of the web page and consists of 5 main sections(Status, System, Objects, Network, and Policies). When a tab is selected, with the exception of theObjects tab, a number of sub tabs representing the various components within the section can beselected. When you select the Section and the desired Subsection tab, you are presented with a listof configurable items in the left pane. The list is similar to the list found in the previous version but onlyincludes the items relevant to the Subsection. Selecting an item from the list in the left pane displaysthe details for the selected item in the main working area.

The following image displays the Home page of CoreOS version 10.x. Notice that by default the newpage layout displays the same information in the main working area such as System Information andMonitoring Graphs. You will also notice the tabbed menu above the main body and list of configurableitems on the left.

Chapter 2Network

Topics:

• Network

Network

In Clavister VSG CoreOS version 9, if you wanted to configure network related items such as Interfaces,VPNs, or Routes you first selected the relevant object from the list in the left pane. For example, toconfigure an Ethernet interface, you had to first expand the Interface menu and then select the Ethernetobject.

To accomplish the same task in Clavister VSG CoreOS 10.x, you must first select Network from themain menu and then select the Interfaces and VPN menu tab.You are then presented with a list of

configurable items on the left (again similar to previous version). When you select a configurable itemsuch as Ethernet, you are presented with details of the item in the main working area of the page.Note that the main working area of the newer version looks very similar to the old one in the previousversion, and you can configure the Ethernet adapters in the same way.

Chapter 4Firewall Policies

Topics:

• Firewall Policies

Firewall Policies

In Clavister VSG CoreOS version9, items such as Rules, IDP, User Authentication, or TrafficManagement are all expandable menu items that provide additional options when selected. In ClavisterVSG CoreOS version 10.x, these four items are grouped into the Policy section and listed as subsection items. The Rules section is now located under Firewalling. The IDP options are now locatedunder the Intrusion Prevention tab. The names of the User Authentication and Traffic Managementsections have not changed.

Again the actual method of configuring the individual options is similar to the previous version. Themain working area of the newer Graphical User Interface presents us with the same list of configurableitems.

The process of saving the configuration with Clavister VSG CoreOS version 10.x/11 is the same inthe new web interface as the old one. The only difference is in the page layout. The following imagedisplays the Save and Activate option in version 9.

In Clavister VSG CoreOS version 10, this option has been moved to the top, right-hand corner of theinterface.
