Murray City Power was started in 1913

    • Provide just over 100 megawatts of Power to 18,375 customers.

    • Murray City is centrally located in the middle of Salt Lake County.

    We are here

  • HOW THIS STUFF WORKSWhat is a Transformer?

    • A transformer is an electrical device that transfers electrical energy between two or more circuits.

    • Transformers are used to increase or decrease the alternating voltages.

    • Each transformer has a specific capacity and a overload of that capacity could cause power outages.

    OR

  • MODELING THE POWER NETWORK

    • In our power service area we have 2,000+ transformers

    • One of the first things we had to do was calculate the peak meter consumption for meter.

    • Then by using ArcGIS to model our the power system and Model Builder we have created a process that allows us to trace the power network data. Then identify all the transformers that are over 140% capacity.
