The Best Place To StartCONGRATULATIONS! Your decision to work toward a bachelor’s degree is a good choice! Although technical programs continue to be popular, the majority of college freshmen still enter four-year programs leading to the bachelor’s degree.

The decision to enter a four-year program does not mean that you must begin your college studies at a four-year college. However, the fact is, more and more students are beginning their studies at community colleges.

At Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College, more than 50 percent of the student body is enrolled in transfer programs. Every year, SKCTC students transfer to nearby (and some not-so-nearby) colleges and universities to complete Bachelor’s Degree requirements started here.

General Education RequirementsAs a transfer student, you will be enrolled in an Associate of Arts Degree program. To meet requirements and to establish a solid foundation for additional study, you will be required to take general education courses in written communication, oral communication, arts and humanities, quantitative reasoning, natural sciences, and social and behavioral science.

Begin Your Bachelor’s Degree at SoutheastThe Associate in Science Degree is awarded to community college students who satisfactorily complete a minimum of 60 hours, including the general education core requirements, with a grade-point average of at least 2.0 (C).

ASSOCIATE IN SCIENCE REQUIREMENTS 12Select courses from headings in the Core Categories and/or Foreign Language. At least 6 credit hours must be selected from Arts and Humanities and/or Social and Behavioral Sciences and/or Foreign Language. Students are advised to choose hours to satisfy pre-major requirements at the institution to which they are transferring.

ELECTIVES 15Students are advised to choose hours to satisfy pre-majorrequirements at the institution to which they are transferring. Total Credit Hours: 60 Credit Hours Degree requirements: 1 )completion of minimum 60 credit hours, 2) minimum cumulative 2.000 GPA, 3) minimum of 15 credit hours earned at the institution awarding the degree, 4) cultural studies course, and 5) demonstration of digital literacy. 1. Courses chosen to satisfy General Education requirements must be selected from an approved list which may be found in the KCTCS catalog at http://legacy.kctcs.edu/catalog/.

2. A course used to fulfill one category cannot be used to fulfill another category.

Transitional courses (courses numbered 001-099) cannot be used to satisfy graduation requirements.
