Connection PARIS DU NORD – PARIS MONTPARNASSE

TRAVEL TIME: 60 minutesCOSTS:  ! 1.60 one-way

Paris du Nord – Paris Montparnasse (outward journey)

•  To travel to Paris Montparnasse you will need to take the metro. Metro ticketscan be purchased in the Thalys buffet-cars (carriages 4, 14, 24). Price per

person, one-way: !1.60. We advise you to purchase your metro ticket on boardThalys, as the ticket desks at Paris du Nord can be really busy and there is noprice difference. But, be quick, availability is limited.

•  Walk to the end of the platform to the main hall when you arrive at Paris du Nord

station.•  Follow the (M) signs and take the stairs down.•  Continue to follow the (M) signs when you get to the bottom of the stairs. When

the signs start indicating line names, follow the (M) (4) line (purple line).•  Go through the gates (hang on to your metro ticket) and follow the signs (M) (4)

in the direction of Porte d’Orleans.

•  Take the train to the 14th stop: ‘Montparnasse Bienvenüe’.•  Follow the signs ‘Trains Grandes Lignes / Sortie’. Use the moving walkways (if

the middle lane is travelling in the right direction, it is advisable to use this oneas it moves faster).

•  Use your metro ticket to open the gates.•  Use the escalators and go up a few floors (remain following the signs "Grandes

Lignes’).•  Finally, walk on beneath the large departure message board to get to where the

platforms are located.•  As the trains are long, please keep in mind that it may take you five to ten

minutes to walk the length of the platform to your carriage. •  Keep your TGV train ticket ready for inspection just before boarding the train.

Paris Montparnasse – Paris du Nord (return trip)

•  Walk to the end of the platform to the main hall when you arrive at Paris

Montparnasse station.•  Walk on beneath the big blue board on which (M) is written.

•  Talk the escalator or stairs down a few levels.

•  Buy a metro ticket and continue on past the gates (hang on to your metro ticket)

and follow the signs (M) (4) in the direction of Porte de Clignancourt (purple

line).•  Use the moving walkways to get to the platform (if the middle lane is travelling in

the right direction, it is advisable to use this one as it moves faster). 

•  Take the train to the 14th stop: "Gare du Nord#.•  Use your metro ticket to open the gates.•

  Follow the signs "Grandes Lignes# and "Thalys# until you get to the main hall.•  Thalys trains usually depart from platforms 7, 8 or 9. The specific platform will

be announced 20 minutes before departure on the message board in the mainhall and on the TV screens on the platforms.

•  As the trains are long, please keep in mind that it may take you five to tenminutes to walk the length of the platform to your carriage. 

•  Keep your Thalys train ticket ready for inspection just before boarding the train.

Minimum time needed to transfer from Paris North to Paris Montparnasse = 1 hour!

(preferably 1.5 hours due to the long walking distance

between the metro and train at Paris Montparnasse)
