4.8. LOADING AREA MODELS: 1314LP, 1515LP, 1814LP

8. Increase engine speed to rated RPM to produce the required flow. For maximum recommended flow, refer to the Appendix.

9. If equipped with a speed control valve: Adjust the flow of oil to the hydraulic motor as desired, see Figure 4.3. The speed control valve is located next to the spout roller.

• To close the valve and stop the motor, turn the handle so it is parallel to the valve block.

• To open valve and run motor at full speed, position at right angles to the valve block.

• Set the handle between these 2 positions to run at partial speed.

10. Run until the belting is empty.

11. Reduce engine speed to low idle.

12. Place hydraulic control lever in neutral.

13. Shut off tractor engine.

4.8. Loading Area

Grain must be loaded into the loading zone (see Figure 4.4) and completely covered with grain to achieve maximum capacity and efficiency. Never unload material into the transition area.

Figure 4.4 Loading Zone

4.9. Emergency Shutdown / Full-Tube Restart

Although it is recommended that the conveyor be emptied before stopping, in an emergency situation:

1. Stop or shut down the power source immediately and lockout power.

2. Correct the emergency before resuming work.

3. If the machine is shut down inadvertently or for an emergency, clear as much of the grain as possible before restarting.

4. Electric and Gas Drive Models: It may be necessary to tighten the drive belts slightly to handle the heavier than normal loads.

BATCO - TRANSFER BELT CONVEYOR 5. MAINTENANCE

MODELS: 1314LP, 1515LP, 1814LP 5.3. FLUIDS & LUBRICANTS

5.4. Maintenance Procedures

5.4.1. Greasing

Note: Most original equipment bearings used by Batco are sealed units and will not accept grease.

1. Use a hand-held grease gun for all greasing.

2. Wipe grease fitting with a clean cloth before greasing to avoid injecting dirt and grit.

3. Replace broken fittings immediately.

4. If fittings will not take grease, remove and clean thoroughly. Also clean lubricant passageway. Replace fitting if necessary.

5.4.2. Conveyor Belt Tension

Ensure ignition key is removed or power is locked out before adjusting or servicing conveyor.

• Adjusting your conveyor belt for proper tension helps to ensure trouble-free opera-tion and long belt life.

• A conveyor belt only needs to be tight enough to not slip on the drive roller. If the belt is too loose, it will slip on the drive roller making a noticeable sound, slowing the belt down.

Failure to stop using a conveyor with a slipping belt will damage it and/or the drive roller lagging. In extreme cases, sections of burnt belt will have to be replaced. This type of damage is not covered by warranty.

Important: If belt is still slipping and adjustment bolts are fully tightened, then belt must be shortened due to stretch over long-time usage or replaced depending on wear.

• Belt should not be easy to pull from the hopper transition sides, otherwise the belt will require tensioning.

Belt Tension Procedure

1. Remove ignition key or lock out power source.

2. Remove guards if necessary.

3. Loosen bearing bolts and jam nut (included) at tightener roller.

4. Tighten bolts equally; use tape to verify. Belt should deflect 1” – 2” when pushed with a 5 lb force or be difficult to pull from sides of hopper transition.

5. Tighten bearing bolts and jam nut (if included).

6. Check belt tension by running conveyor for 1 minute. If belt is not slipping, then proceed to next step, otherwise repeat from step 4.

7. If belt is not slipping but now runs to one side, the tensioned roller needs to be realigned.

8. Replace guards if removed.

Important: Some belts may have uneven edges, appearing misaligned. Wait until the belt makes a complete revolution before adjusting rollers.

5.3. FLUIDS & LUBRICANTS MODELS: 1314LP, 1515LP, 1814LP

When setting tension/tracking, do not over adjust opposing bolts. This may cause irreversible damage to the conveyor side plate or bearing.

5.4.3. Conveyor Belt Alignment

If your belt is tracking to one side, use instructions below and follow steps listed to center it. Follow the steps in the appropriate section(s) in order. If you are unsure where the problem is, start at the beginning of this sections and work your way to the end. Skip sections that do not apply. The process can be lengthy but will help ensure trouble free operation and long belt life.

Important: Ensure that conveyor is empty of all product before adjusting belt alignment.

Ensure ignition key is removed or power is locked out before adjusting or servicing conveyor.

Note: The top transition roller should be the only one requiring adjustment. Only in extreme cases will the bottom transition roller require adjustment (see Figure 5.2).
