Training Workshop on GAD The Commission on Higher Education conducted a training workshop on “Gad
Integration in the Curriculum, Research and Extension.” Attendees to the said activity
came from different HEIs in Cavite. The CCT sent its representatives composed of Dr.
Josefina Rint, Mrs. Evangeline Pamintuan, Mr, Alex Tatangco and Ms. Flordeliza
Castillo. The resource speakers composed of Dr. Nelia Cresino (CvSU), Assoc. Prof.
Maria Theresa Hernandez (BSU) Ms. Reinifer Francisco (CHED) and Dr. Ruby Dizon
(LSPU).
The participants were first oriented on the operation of the CvSU GAD Resource
Center followed by a lecture on GAD orientation and Introduction to Gender Analysis
by Dr. Nelia Crecino. After giving a lecture on GAD integration in Research, by Prof.
Hernandez, the participants were challenged to prepare a simple GAD related research
proposal within 30 minutes that include title, objectives, limitation, and methodology.
The group came up with a research proposal entitled: “Gender- based Productive,
Reproductive and Community Activities: Basis in the Formulation of Workload
Policies for Teachers.”
The integration of GAD related extension services was presented by Dr. Dizon using
the actual extension activities generated by the LSPU. In one of their extension
activities, Dr. Dizon showed how the non-working women were empowered by
teaching sewing that led them to produce rags from waste materials which expanded
to sewing of school /sports uniforms, fashionable shirts, dresses and ternos to a point
that the empowered women established a successful cooperative.
For GAD integration in curriculum, the participants were tasked by Ms. Francisco to
bring with them course syllabus showing how GAD is integrated in the subject. In case
of CCT participants, GAD topics are already included in the Social Dimension and in
Peace and Global Education for BSE students. Jrrint
