Family Child Care Start Up The Resource Center offers everything needed to get started in Family Child Care: 24 Hour Family Pre-Service, Emergency Preparedness, SIDS and CPR & First AID. All of these requirements can be completed in just a 3 week period beginning with SIDS on July 23 and concluding with Emergency Preparedness on August 7 and 8. Participants registering for all these classes receive a special price of $315 (a savings 0f $30). Payment plans can be arranged. Contact: Francine, ext. 229 Renewal First year Family Child Care Providers need 18 hours of required training. Center Aides need 6 hours yearly and all other Center Staff and Family Providers need 12 hours of training each year. We offer training in each core of knowledge area each month. This training meets the Office of Child Care pre-service training requirements for new family child care providers as well as core of knowledge training for currently licensed family providers and center staff. Fee: $40 per individual 4-hour session $225 – 24 hour series that includes all six 4-hour sessions.

SEFEL Social and Emotional Foundations of Early Learning for Preschoolers explores the role early childhood teachers play in facilitating social and emotional development so that children have the skills and foundation needed to be successful in school. MARYLAND MODEL FOR SCHOOL READINESS : A Director’s Perspective Maryland Model for School Readiness (MMSR) Director’s Perspective is a series of five (5) 4-hour trainings designed to help guide directors and administrators in the process of understanding and implementing MMSR in their programs. It is NOT necessary for participants to have completed the 9 module MMSR course prior to enrolling. The series requires directors to reflect on their current program practices, evaluate what they are currently doing and examine how program policies and practices influence teachers’ abilities to successfully implement MMSR in the program. Registration Policies and Reminders Pre-registration and pre-payment are required for all workshops. Confirmation and directions are mailed only if the registration is received at least one week prior to class. No cash is accepted; payment may be made by credit card (Visa, Mastercard or Discover), check or money order. Credit cards and money orders the only acceptable forms of payment on the day of a workshop. Registration fees are not refundable unless a class is cancelled by the Resource Center. Transfers are granted only when requested 24 hours in advance; there is a $5 fee for transfers. Register online, by mail, or telephone by calling 301.772.8420, ext. 229. All Resource Center workshops provide MSDE Office of Child Care approved training credits for early education providers. Workshops meet high standards, begin on time, and provide the hours of training that is stated on certificates. Doors are locked when the workshop begins. Late-comers will not be admitted and no refunds will be given to those who arrive late. Workshops are open to anyone who shares an interest in the growth and development of children.

Inclement Weather The Resource Center follows Prince George’s County Public Schools inclement weather policy for closings and delayed openings. If you are scheduled for a workshop and the public schools close for inclement weather, the workshop will be cancelled. We will make every effort to notify those registered for a workshop if there is a change to the schedule.
