TRACTO-TECHNIK (TT), based in Lennestadt / Germany, was founded by Dipl.-Ing. Paul Schmidt in 1962. At the begin-
ning, a rented garage accommodated work places for fabricating ramming rigs and the machines needed for pulling
out drill rods and trench sheeting.
The debut in pipe forming techniques was made in 1967 with the development of the universal hydraulic tube proces-
sing machine TUBOMAT, which soon lead to TUBOMAT becoming a comprehensive product line. Beside the CNC, semi-
automatic and 1-axis controlled pipe bending machines, the product range also covers pipe end forming machines, pipe
measuring systems, software solutions and IT services as well as individual and system solutions for special branches
and applications.
Parallel to this development, the GRUNDOMAT soil displacement hammer captured the market for trenchless pipe
installation techniques and became a basic model for numerous steerable and non-steerable drilling systems. Today,
TT is a specialist for trenchless pipe installation and pipe forming techniques and belongs to the technology leaders in
both branches.

In an attempt to offer complete and practice-oriented high-efficiency system solutions, TT started the TRACTO-TECHNIK Software Deve-
lopment several years ago. Known by its label PIPEFAB, this branch develops multi-system software products for pipe processing. „All
you need from one source“ is the slogan. Simultaneous development of machine technology and software solutions has turned TRACTO-
TECHNIK into a competent contact point for all questions concerning pipe processing.
The innovative family enterprise, dedicated to future progress, presents itself as a global player of our time. More than 500 qualified and

With TRACTO-TECHNIK pipe bending machines, all materials with good cold forming
properties (i.e. steel, stainless steel, copper, aluminium, brass, CuNiFe, ...) in varying
cross-section shapes can be processed safely and precisely. This includes round,
square and oval pipes as well as open profiles, flat or solid bar material.

The CNC controlled pipe bending machines of the TUBOTRON product line fulfill the highest demands on quality regar-
ding design, performance and fabrication. They present the perfect solution for the serial production or flexible single
production of pipe bending parts. All functions are automated and the axes speeds can be programmed freely.
The bending machines have a free-standing bending head for maximum liberty of action in process, thus allowing the
production of intricate pipe shapes. Depending on the machine type, tubes & pipes with an outside diameter between
4 and 170 mm can be bent at present, economically and fully automated.
Up-to-date control technique from SIEMENS makes sure that the work pieces are finished with precision and minimal
throughput times. The operator merely has to insert the straight pipe into the machine, start the bending program and
take the ready-bent pipe shape out of the machine again.

A tele-service interface makes way for remote maintenance of the machine control via the internet by the experts of
TRACTO-TECHNIK. Therefore, the pipe bending machine is always up-to-date in terms of the latest technology; should
any kind of problem occur, you have the complete experience and know-how of our employees to back you up at short
notice – all over the world.
On request, the TUBOTRON pipe bending machines can be provided with a multi-radii bending facility. It allows the pro-
duction of pipe shapes with bend-in-bend runs, forming of different radii to a single pipe or bending pipes of differing
diameters without having to exchange tools.
In order to secure the bending area during automatic production, a complex assortment of security systems is available.
We can offer you the whole spectrum of modern accident prevention technology including laser scanners, protection
hoods, safety-switch mats, cable-controlled safety devices and photo-electric barriers or even complete safety-fencing.

TRACTO-TECHNIK has developed different system solutions, flexibly adapted and cut to size to optimise all kinds of
applications. With its maximum degree of automation, the pipe bending centre produces almost operator-free – the only
manual tasks remaining are to fill up the pipe storage and to remove the final bent work pieces.
First the pipes are singled out from the pipe storage and precisely aligned lengthwise. A welded seam detection system,
with rotational alignment of the pipes, can be added as an option. Depending on the necessity of using a bending man-
drel or not, the unprocessed pipe is fed into the machine from the front or the side with a matching grappler system. As
soon as the pipe has been bent, it is deposited in a collecting container or laid down with the help of a grappler system,
while the next pipe is already waiting, ready to be fed into the machine.

With the optical measuring system LISA, quality assurance of pipe bending is already integrated in the bending machine and the
running production process.
Accompanying the work process, every single pipe bend or every nth construction part is examined on tolerance observance while
the bending results are recorded. Feedback to the machine control allows process control due to flexible adaptation of the bending
parameters in the course of production (i.e. during load change).
The measuring precision in practice is performed better than ± 0,1°. LISA builds on a very small scale, and measuring/evaluation takes
only fractions of a second to complete. The measuring and evaluation software can be installed directly in the control computer of the
pipe bending machine. Beside the module for determining bending results it also contains calibrating and diagnosis functions.

The bending function of the pipe bending machines of the TUBOBEND model range runs automatically while pipe
feed and rotation between two bends are carried out manually. In the first instance, these machines are applied
for the single or small batch production of pipe bending parts as well as for maintenance works. According to
machine type, pipes up to 140 mm Ø can be worked.
The free-standing bending head gives the bending machine
all the space it needs for bending complicated pipe shapes. A
plane of bend device as well as length stops simplify the work
for small batch production because the pipe can be exactly
fastened to the start position for the next bend.
The new control concept enables simple and comfortable
menu-driven operation via a SIEMENS touch panel. Here you
can lodge 20 bending programs with 20 bending steps each.
A further asset: bending data from our pipe bending software
PIPEFAB B can be transferred to the machine control directly.
The TUBoBenD 48 can be equipped with different
optional devices.

The TUBOBEND 42 and 48 are the true all-rounders within the TUBO-
BEND model range. These machines can be flexibly suited to every
kind of application case because they can be provided with debur-
ring, cutting ring assembly, pipe flaring and chamfering functions.
The TUBOBEND 50, 80, 90 and 120 are also available as semi-au-
tomatic pipe bending machines. In that case the bending machines
are equipped with fixing brakes for longitudinal and torsional po-
sitioning of the pipe. Due to their powerful bending drive and the
numerous equipping possibilities, these machines are well suited for
bending pipes with thick walls as well as for pipes with thin walls
if a mandrel is used. In addition to this, the TUBOBEND 80 is also
available in an L-version for more simplified bending applications.

The pro for hydraul i c tub ing : TUBoMaT Pre-condition for a reliably functioning hydraulic system without leakage loss is the equally reliable processing and
assembly of all pipes and components. Meanwhile, TRACTO-TECHNIK has been developing professional and workable
solutions for hydraulic pipe-work for four decades and offers the different processing functions individually in form
of compact table top units or integrated in the TUBOMAT pipe processing centre.
With the TUBOMAT 642 and 648, TRACTO-TECHNIK offers two real all-round professional solutions for hydraulic as-
sembly concerns. The mobile and flexibly applicable pipe processing centre for pipes and tubes with outer diameters
from 6 to 42 (resp. 48) mm manages the complete hydraulic tube processing spectrum from sawing and deburring to
bending and also integrates pipe flaring, cutting ring assembly or chamfering functions. This assembly pro is extre-
mely robust, easy to operate and absolutely reliable.
Since its development 40 years ago, the TUBoMaT has
proven its own value as a universal pipe processing
machine over a thousand times all over the world,
thus turning into an indispensable assistant in pipe
production for many enterprises.

All single processing functions are also available from TRACTO-TECHNIK in the form of small and compact high-performance machines.
Clean deburring is carried out by the TUBOGRAT. It is sufficient to press the sawed off pipe ends against the special pipe milling cutter
and within seconds the pipes are absolutely free of burrs.
TT provides individual assembly devices for the two methods of safe hydraulic component connection, flared or cutting-ring fittings.
TRACTOPRESS is a superior solution for quick and fault-free cutting ring assembly – the specific assembly pressure for every pipe
diameter is set up automatically with the application of the corresponding tool.
The combined assembly machine VARIOMAT performs cutting-ring assembly and also flares the ends of the pipe. A change of the two
functions is performed in a matter of seconds, therefore this device is particularly suitable for applying both fitting methods.

The press bending method is suitable for simple bending processes and thick-walled pipes. As pipes are bent without
mandrel or wiper die, bending radii of approx. 3 x D and higher can be performed. With the PB 42 and the PB 42 plus,
TRACTO-TECHNIK offers two mobile and flexible bending machines for pipes with outer diameters up to 42 mm.
The desired bending angle can be exactly adjusted via limit switch for the cylinder stroke. A plug-in type tool system
allows short setup times. The PB 42 plus is equipped with internal and external deburrers as well as an universal seating
device which allows adding on a flaring unit or a cutting ring assembly unit optionally.

The TUBOFORM model range offers multiple possibilities for the processing of pipe ends, they can be formed either axially or in a
radial process, for instance:
• expanding • reducing • end sizing • flanging • bead forming
• bevelling • notching • curling • flaring • contour forming
When the axial method is applied, the forming tools are moved lengthwise to the pipe, thus forming the pipe end while the pipe
itself is held with clamping jaws. Depending on the forming tools, you can produce a large variety of different high-precision pipe
geometries with the TUBOFORM A.
When radial forming is applied, the pipe end is formed by
means of spreading or pulling-in segments. The pipe itself is
held by hand or by means of simple facilities for this method.
The TUBOFORM RS is equipped with one radially working for-
ming tool, it affects the pipe either from without or within. In
contrast to this mode of action, the TUBOFORM RM combines
two independent radially working tools.

No matter what kind of pipes are going to be measured, whether they have single bends, complicated shapes with
standard radii or freeform bends: the pipe measuring systems from TRACTO-TECHNIK always deliver precise and reliable
results. With these, you can not only check the dimensional accuracy of bent pipes; by means of reverse engineering,
the geometry data can be directly transformed into production or pipe bending data.
The TUBOSCAN C and the TUBOSCAN M are two measuring arm systems which differ in relations to their hardware
components, the measuring method, the working range and their measuring precision. The TUBOSCAN C is available in
working ranges between 1.80 m and 3.60 m and can be equipped with diverse measuring sensors.
The small measuring arm TUBOSCAN M has a basic working range of 1.67 m, which
can easily be extended for measuring of pipe shapes that extend this working range
(“leapfrog function“). This measuring arm can be equipped with tactile measuring sen-
sors, a pipe measuring fork or a laser optic (ML) for comfortable, non-contacting pipe
measurement.

The TUBOSCAN STICK can work completely without the mechanical restrictions of a measuring arm. Based on the latest 3D
navigation technology, this measuring system allows mobile, cable-free, freehand definition and measurement of pipes and
add-on parts.
The core piece of all these measuring systems is the pipe-specific measuring
and evaluation software which will master even the most difficult of measuring
tasks. The lite version includes the basic measuring functions for pipes, wires
and hoses (i.e. measuring, calculating bending data, nominal/actual value
comparison...).
The full version integrates numerous additional features like pipe data import
from CAD systems (via IGES interface), automatic generation of sizing tools
and measurement of add-on parts. A design module for adapting pipe courses
and suitable interfaces for the online connection of pipe bending machines is
optionally available.
TT has developed the TUBOCONTROL measuring table for measuring angles
and lengths of two-dimensional pipe shapes. It is also excellent for the quick
and uncomplicated determination of the pipe’s springback after bending.

Conventional template pipe assembly, from taking the measurements of the planned pipe connection to building
a model, handling the geometry data, fabricating the pipe and carrying out the final check of the fitting precision,
belong to the most time and cost consuming production sequences in shipbuilding and plant engineering.
With SCOPELINK and ROBOFIX, TRACTO-TECHNIK offers an economical
and at the same time highly precise automated complete solution for the
fabrication of template pipes. This world-wide unique system was specially
designed to optimise the process cycles of template pipe production.
Using the 3D isometric facilities of SCOPELINK, all geometry data relevant
for the finishing of the template pipe are precisely measured out and sto-
red on site. As next, the data can be directly sent to the pipe fabricating
workshop for further processing, for instance by using the internet. This
means you can start with the production of the template pipe almost at
once.

Not only the complete manufacturing data (i.e. bending data) but also the control data for the 3D positioning device ROBOFIX are
provided for the prefabrication of the template pipe. This system allows you to simulate the installation situation of the template
pipe in a highly precise manner, so the flanges can already be welded to the pipe in their correct and exactly fitting position in the
pipe workshop.
The template pipe leaves the pipe workshop in the highest possible prefabrication degree, all
that is left to do is the assembly on site. Due to the high system precision of both systems and the
possibility of carrying out a collision check straight away when the isometric is being generated,
the template pipes measured and produced with SCOPELINK and ROBOFIX can be perfectly fit
into the line system.
If needed, the working actions can be parallelised by applying several SCOPELINK systems. The
complete data are stored in a database for future use. Due to the possibility of transferring data
via the internet, the application of SCOPELINK and ROBOFIX presents no problems at all, in spite
of remote locations.

Beside the achievements in machine engineering, TRACTO-TECHNIK develops efficient software solutions for pipe
processing and pipe line construction under its label and is therefore able to offer its customers
integral and optimally inter-coordinated system solutions with high applicability.
The modular build-up of the PIPEFAB production management software supports and integrates all areas of the service
life cycle of pipe lines, from engineering and construction, fabrication, assembly and operation to the maintenance of
pipe line systems.
PIPEFAB extricates the complete information needed for producing pipe lines from the pipe data. Data input is per-
formed either via PCF importer from various CAD systems or via the program-own isometric-generating tool. PIPEFAB
guarantees rapid and cost-optimised calculation of all production data, taking the pipe geometries and pipe materials
as well as the workshop and fabrication capacities into account.

The software pack contains functions for generating spools and work pa-
ckages, the calculation of production times and costs, carrying out the
workflow control and data preparation for the weld seam documentation
or quality controls. PIPEFAB can address various NC processing machines
(i.e. pipe saws, bending machines...) directly via corresponding interfaces. In
combination with ERP / MRP systems, PDM systems and standard accoun-
ting systems, all data and isometrics required for project management and
control are provided.
PIPEFAB affords the optimisation of all work processes of pipe line construction and definitely leads to work, time and cost savings.
The software stands out for its easy-to-learn and application-friendly operation for the benefit of the user.
The pipe bending module PIPEFABB is not only an integrated compound of the complete PIPEFAB concept, it can also be applied
as a self-contained, machine-oriented pipe bending software. All functions for the generation of isometrics, calculation of sawing
lengths and bending data, collision control and data output or online data transmission to the pipe bending machine, are integrated.
