Frederiksen Warranty Frederiksen warrants its production, in normal usage, to be free of defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one year from original purchase by the user, subject to theconditions and limitations below. Any part which proves to be defective in normal usage during that one year period will be repaired or replaced by Frederiksen.

This warranty is subject to the following conditions and limitations:a: Frederiksen's liability shall be limited to repair or replacement of goods or parts defective in materials or workmanship.b: Determination of the suitability of the materials for the use contemplated by the buyer is the sole responsibility of the buyer, and Frederiksen shall have no responsibility

in connection with such suitability.c: Frederiksen shall not be liable for any harm resulting from:

1. Failures due to use of products in applications for which they are not intended.2. Failures due to corrosion, wear and tear or improper installation.

d: Frederiksen goods subject to warranty claim must be returned to Frederiksen for inspection. e: Frederiksen shall not be responsible for shipping charges or installation labour associated with any warranty claim. f: Service by anyone other than authorized Frederiksen representatives shall void this warranty unless it accords with Frederiksen guidelines and standards of workmanship.

There are no warranties of merchantability, fitness for purpose or any other kind, expressed or implied, and none shall be implied by law. The duration of any such warrantiesthat are nonetheless implied by law for the benefit of a consumer shall be limited to a period of one year from original purchase by the user. Some countries do not allow limita-tions on how long an implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation may not apply to you.Frederiksen shall not be liable for consequential damages to the equipment of yachts or other property or persons due to any failure of Frederiksen equipment. Some countriesdo not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply to you.This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other legal rights which vary from country to country.As improvements in design are continuously being made, Frederiksen reserve the right to alter specifications given in this catalogue without prior notice.All dimensions in this catalogue should be treated as close approximations. The patented Frederiksen Ballsli-de batten system requires neithertracks on the mast nor time-con-suming fastening. You simplymount the smoothly running Ball-slide cars directly into the luff groove of your mast.

The Ballslide cars run in the existing luff groove which makes the system suitable even for very flexible masts.

The Ballslide car is fitted tothe bolt rope through a stainlesssteel ball joint which allows fullmovement of the batten in allplanes including 112° each side ofthe centre line.

3. It provides you with a very effi-cient main, as the mainsail boltrope runs extremely close to themast.4. When used with Frederiksenbatten retainers your mainsail willstay exactly on the centerline ofthe mast. You can also use the Ball-slide system in combination withsuitable SDA and Rutgerson retain-ers.5. You can be confident that yoursail can always be set and loweredwithout any trouble thanks to the extremely smoothly runningBallslide cars.6. You can use the smooth Frederiksen Ballslide battensystem even on a very flexiblemast unable to carry a track.7. A Ballslide car can be used on asoft sail where a full length topbatten may be used which wouldotherwise not run freely due to thebatten compression.8. Ballslide intermediate cars canalso be used on larger yachts withsoft sails for hanks, where conven-tional slide systems would not pro-vide the same efficiency.

Intermediate car. The quick release Delrin bush is webbed to the sail and is easy to connect and disconnect.

For the series 100 Ballslide system we have four different shapes of car bodies as shown above,these being the BS-N, BS-W, BSI-N, BSI-W and the BSZ-N. The new BSZ-N ballslide car is mainlymade to fit the Z-Spar and Performance Spar masts.For each of these car types various ‘membranes’ exist to cater for the variety of mast sectionsproduced. Please see the table on page 2.If your mast section is not listed, please contact your nearest Frederiksen agent.

car you will receive twosets of seven composite membranes

each covering luff groove openingsbetween 4,5 and 8 mm.

Fully battened mainsails are in-creasing in popularity due to theobvious advantages they offer toconventional soft sails – more pow-er and a better control of shape, anextended lifetime for the canvasand easier handling when reefingand lowering the main.

The Frederiksen batten carsystem gives you the followingadvantages compared to othertrack systems:1. Extra low profile which enablesthe mainsail bolt rope to run veryclose to the mast.2. Full articulation of battens in allplanes including 105° to each sideof the centre line.3. Each car is provided with alloyend caps to ensure durability.4. All cars run on recirculating Tor-lon balls enabling the cars to achie-ve very high safe working loads.

5. Slide rods can be fitted if preferred.6. Pat.pending quick release ball joint cars are available in series 050, 100, 150, 200 and 300 enab-ling a fast and simple removal ofthe mainsail.7. Quick release bushes are fittedto intermediate cars in the series020, 050 and 100, 150 and 200enabling a fast and simple removalof the mainsail.

EASY INSTALLATIONThe patented Frederiksen con-nector slugs enable an easy andsafe connection of tracks into theluff groove without having to lowerthe mast.

The slugs are stacked in theluff groove and will automaticallyhome into position in the bottomface holes of the track, as the trackfixing screws are progressively tightened as you work your way upthe mast. The common difficultyof locating the track screws into'blind' threads does not exist.

The connector slugs in series50, 100, 150 and 200 are availablefor a wide range of mast profiles.Look at page 2 in this catalogue tosee which slugs to use for yourmast.

If it is a requirement to adjust yourbatten from the leech end of thesail instead of the luff end, as withthe retainers R-60 and R-70, theleech retainers L-60 and L-70 sho-uld be used.

The new Series 100 Frederiksen luff-groove track has been designed primarily for large yachtsthat may require the flexibility of using either a "soft" mainsail with a bolt rope or a fully battenedmainsail with batten cars or a combination of these systems. For instance, a soft sail may berequired for racing for possible rating advantages while the full length batten mainsail is used forfast simple passage making and cruising, or a soft storm trisail may be required. This new trackis designed to be used with the Series 100 batten cars, headloard cars, intermediate cars and endstops. This multi-purpose track can be secured with M5 fastenings to the aft face of the mast orrecessed into the aft face of carbon masts.

It is no coincidence that nine out of the ten yachts racing for the Volvo Trophy choose to use the FREDERIKSEN series 150 batten car system.

The new Series 150 Frederiksen luff-groove track has been designed primarily for large yachtsthat may require the flexibility of using either a "soft" mainsail with a bolt rope or a fully battenedmainsail with batten cars or a combination of these systems. For instance, a soft sail may berequired for racing for possible rating advantages while the full length batten mainsail is used forfast simple passage making and cruising, or a soft storm trisail may be required. This new trackis designed to be used with the series 150 batten cars, reef cars, intermediate cars and end stopsdeveloped for the latest generation of Volvo yachts (see pages 22, 23 and 24). This multi purposetrack can be secured with M5 fastenings to the aft face of the mast or recessed into the aft face ofcarbon masts.
