Philippine General Hospital

The Philippine General Hopi!al (PGH) is a tertiary state-owned hosital ad!inistered

and oerated "y the #ni$ersity o% the &hiliines Manila, the #ni$ersity o% the &hiliines

Syste!'s Health Sciences Center. (t is the largest go$ern!ent hosital ad!inistered "y the

uni$ersity, and is designated as the )ational #ni$ersity Hosital. (t is located at Er!ita,

Manila in the &hiliines. (t is the "iggest hosital in the country with a *,+-"ed caacity. (t

is a !ied-use hosital, with *, "eds %or indigent atients and + "eds %or ri$ateatients, and o%%ers so!e o% the lowest rates %or atients and is generally known as the

hosital %or indigent atients.

also 9ust relocate the storage o% these things on a lace that will not "e eosed to eole

assing "y the hallway.

anyone or they could 9ust tie the oygen tanks roerly.

The grou also o"ser$ed that ceiling %ans are $ery li!ited. (t is o"ser$ed thataround %our to si atients share %or one ceiling %an. (n addition the roo! is too war!

"ecause o% not enough $entilation. Since it is su!!er season, atients !ay "e rone to

heat stroke, and other te!erature-related conditions.

Additional %ans should "e ro$ided. The atients on the area should "e li!ited to

!ake the area sacious and con$enient. (n addition, the ward can "e i!ro$ed "yainting the wall "y colors that can !ake the roo! $isi"ly cool.

7ased on the research that the grou has conducted, they ha$e %ound out

se$eral hazards resent on the area. The &hiliine 3eneral Hosital;s 4eart!ent o%

&ediatrics 58ard **6 ro$ides healthcare seci%ically %or child atients. This kind o%

en$iron!ent generally eosed the doctors, nurses, atients and their relati$es to

di%%erent hazards that !ay a%%ect their health condition. So!e o% the hazards resent

are< che!ical hazards 5unattended che!icals along the hallway6, hysical hazards

5untied oygen tanks, "roken lighting %itures, unsa%e !edical transorting "eds6, and

"iological hazards5water leakages %ro! air conditioners, unorganized trash "ins6. (n

each o% these hazards, one could get ro"le!s that could danger one's health.

Moreo$er, the slightly oor $entilation was $ery e$ident on the ward.

There%ore, the researchers conclude that there are indeed se$eral hazards

resent in this area that need to "e addressed in order to attain a clean and well ward

that will "ene%it not only %or the sake o% the child atients "ut !ost i!ortantly, the

eole roa!ing and working around the area.

All in all, the grou o"ser$ed that !inor hazards are e$ident on the

re!ises o% the ward. The area is ade:uate enough %or the atients desite the

resence o% so!e hazards. The grou reco!!ends to 9ust reser$e the !aintenance o%

the ward inside and outside at all ti!es. (t is also reco!!ended to %urther i!ro$e the

$entilation inside the ward "y ro$iding additional %ans and oenings %or assage o%

%resh air. Lastly, the grou reco!!ends to %urther i!ro$e the security o% the ward

"ecause anyone could go inside and outside the $icinity o% the ward at anyti!e, this is

!eant to ro$ide the aroriate wel%are the atients and workers need at all ti!es.
