Ka Wemalan (Mill manager) Dear Sir, RE: RAW WATER TREATMENT@ SODA ADJUSTMENT With reference to our last visit on 23 September 2010, we had reviewed the current raw water scenario. We observed that: 1. The soda dosing pump needs servicing. The chemical dosing pump needed to service as it operate non-stop for a long period of time. 2. The dilution of the soda powder is not complete. Before the soda solution is pump into the horizontal clarifier, we should make sure that the soda powder is 100% diluted. If the soda is partially dilute, it might create a blockage in the chemical hose. 3. Insufficient time to dilute the soda completely. The pump house operator commented that he did not have sufficient time to dilute completely the soda in the chemical tank due to the high consumption of raw water and the raining season. 4. The chemical injection point of soda, alum (coagulant), and polymer (flocculants) is not correct. The injection point of these chemicals should 1 feet apart from the adjacent injection point and should in correct sequence of soda followed by alum and finally polymer. We hope that above information will help you to improve your treated water quality. Together, I attached the result of the jar test and the recommended dosage of the soda for your reference. Please do not hesitate to call undersigned for more clarification on above matters. Thank you for keeping supporting us. We wish to provide our best services and products with MILL 1, KLK Palm Oil Mill.
