Rhythm Makers for children, ages 2-12 with disabilities

Ages 2-6 1:00-1:45; Ages 7-12 1:45-2:30
$30 for the 6-week class
This energizing Music Therapy group will teach
kids about different sounds and music patterns,
creating music, expressing feelings through songs,
and sharing fun with friends. Come experience the
proven benefits of Music Therapy provided by a
certified professional!
School’s Out Club for Youth for children, ages 6—12, with disabilities

During these holiday and seasonally themed days,
children will play games, make crafts, learn about
special topics, and possibly take a field trip! All of
these activities are used to promote peer
interaction and appropriate social skills, physical
activity, and independence.

Camping and day trips from McDowell Nature Preserve

$125.00 for the weekend
Wilderness Bunch is designed to teach basic
skills needed for tent camping and participating
in outdoor recreation. Day trips include hiking
and nature lessons. Participants should be
independent in self care. Participants will
need to bring: toiletries, towel, change of clothes,
bathing suit, a sleeping bag, and a flash light.

Spill Your Beans for young women with disabilities ages 16 and up

Welcome to a super-charged ladies night! Spill
Your Beans provides the opportunity for young
women to talk about and gain support for issues
they’re facing in their lives, such as health &
safety, independent living, relationships,
friendships, and self-esteem (participants will
have the opportunity to choose the topics to learn
about). Each month we will host a guest speaker
or lead a discussion about issues that are
important to you.
Fuel for Life
for young men, ages 16 and up, with disabilities

$10.00 (does not include the cost of dinner)
Come hang out with the guys, fuel your body with
a good dinner, and fuel your life with good
conversation. Fuel for Life provides the opportunity for
young men to talk about and gain support for
issues they’re facing in their lives. Each month we
will host guest speakers and discuss different topics,
such as employment and job skills, relationships,
life goals and values, and other topics that are
important to you.

Teaching great cooking…one Saturday at a time!
Join us for instructional cooking classes with a
"side order" of fun and conversation! Each 1-day
class has a different focus - in addition to learning
or improving basic cooking skills, participants
will learn about kitchen safety and hygiene;
making healthy food choices; and proper food
handling and storage practices.

Band of Brothers For young men with disabilities ages 18-35

Do you need a night out with the guys to relax and
enjoy new activities? Come hang out with "Band
of Brothers" every Wednesday night from 6-8pm.
You can practice social skills, meet new people,
enjoy community outings and develop positive
relationships, all while enjoying some "guy time".

This indoor soccer league is designed to further
develop your soccer skills. Participants will have
the opportunity to work on dribbling, shooting,
and passing. A scrimmage will be played at the
end of every session.

FREE (participants may purchase food if desired)
A monthly group for parents, guardians, and
caregivers that is facilitated by a Therapeutic
Recreation staff person but is directed by the
group members. This FREE informal group gives
participants the opportunity to meet and talk with
other parents and caregivers who are experiencing
the challenges of parenting a child, teen or young
adult with a disability. Note our new location
and time!

Enjoy a social day with friends, while building
independence in the community. Learn about
historical, educational and recreational attractions
in the Charlotte area. Please bring money for
lunch.
