I’ve never been a fan of summarizing main ideas or “big pictures.”

To summarize my own experiences seems almost to trivialize them; I’m a person of many

interests of many pasts. I’m a student of academic success a singer of eclectic genres and an

actress of hard!earned pride. I’m terrible at sports and I’ve never been one for math.

"o as someone whose talents lie in the finer details of life I’ll digress. To tell you the

truth I don’t thin# I could tell you how I’d contribute to your campus; I’ll leave that up to the

teachers who got me here at all $ I’ll leave it all to the people who I am proud to call my mentors

and colleagues. They #now me better than I do and %uite fran#ly I wouldn’t have it any other

    way.

&y contributions to Towson 'niversity could best be measured in my teachers’

evaluations of my adventures. I myself am a bit of a perfectionist one who measures herself in

numbers and outcomes and statistics. &y teachers on the other hand are wise enough to

measure my success in growth and in change.

&y favorite teacher in the world one who’s guided me through the ins and outs of

(onors and )* *hysics would tell you that I am perhaps not a perfect student on paper but that I

try my very hardest in the face of failure. (e would recount my triumphs in his infamous pulley

lab; he’d tell of the seemingly endless hours I’d spend after school getting extra help in order to

achieve that enigmatic ) in his class. &y physics teacher would perhaps remember the days I’ve

eaten lunch with him in his cramped classroom discussing school events and politics and music

and anything else that happened to be of interest; &r. +ochmans would tell you that I could

contribute to your campus through determination mixed with wit and charm. )nd he’d do it with

a smile and with no reservations $ he’s that #ind of a person.

&r. ,erric# +ac#son a delightfully sassy and extraordinarily talented choral director has

had me in his classes for every year I’ve been in high school. (e’s taught me rudimentary guitar

s#ills and indeed the building bloc#s of choir #now!how that have led to what I’d li#e to believe

is my strong musicianship. &r. +ac#son if as#ed how I could contribute to your campus would

recall my leadership s#ills as the alto section leader of his -T hamber hoir. (e’d reminisce

about the years I’ve spent climbing up the high school choir food chain moving from the bac#

    row of a county!ran#ed chorale to the front chair of a state!ran#ed one. &r. +ac#son would spea#

of the days I’ve spent as#ing for musical advice and audition techni%ues. &r. +ac#son #nown

fondly as “,+ax” would sponsor my leadership s#ills and my tenacity in terms of improving the

Towson (igh "chool -T hamber hoir. (e would tell you that if I selected Towson 'niversity

as my source of secondary education I would audition for ,r. /haefi’s choral groups with a full

heart and an impatient hunger to learn more about the musical world around me. &r. +ac#son a

teacher of many talents would beam over my musical gifts $ after all most of them can be

    attributed to his own expertise.

There is one more person one who has shaped not only my talents but indeed my

personality and self as a whole. &s. "tephanie 0illiams )rtistic ,irector of ,rama 1earning

enter in olumbia &, if as#ed how I could contribute to your campus community would

declare unreservedly that she admires my perseverance a feisty spun# fostered by the

competitive nature of her theatre programs. &s. "teph would chuc#le a well!intentioned laugh at

the lac# of professionalism shown by my first!ever audition for her; I sang a ,isney princess

song and my voice was one huge crac# the whole way through. &s. "teph would recognize that I

am a living example of the benefits of hard wor# $ I turned both the positive and negative

and Bring It On into the determination needed to star as the leading role in the area premiere of

To summarize the complexities of existence seems almost to s%uander the finer points of

a person’s life $ I am no exception. I am a high school student composed of varied interests and

even more eclectic experiences. To filter one’s own inner thoughts is impossible without some

    degree of bias.

&y teachers have become my friends as I’ve grown older $ they’ve watched the constant

ebb and flow of my struggles and successes as I’ve learned more and more about myself.

They’ve handed me certificates and %uizzes and handsha#es and hugs $ they’ve enabled my

    desire to achieve.

I am a believer in second chances. I’ve donated hours of my time to teaching

disadvantaged children basic ballet. &y self!image when filtered through the eyes of those who

have made me a creative fiend in both the classroom and the real world has changed from one of

self!deprecation to one of unapologetic pride. I am proud of myself of my achievements. )nd in

a few months I could be even prouder to call myself a Tiger.
