PRESERVING TOMATOES & SALSA Sponsored by East Troy Park & Rec Dept

Age: 17+ Canning tomatoes can be fun and very rewarding. Guidelines

for safely canning tomatoes and salsas from home gardens,

revised with current research findings and updated for Wiscon-

sin tomato and pepper varieties, conditions, and elevations will

be discussed and distributed. These research-tested recipes

have been reviewed to ensure safe, high quality products for

the entire family to enjoy! Participants will also prepare their

own fresh salsa to take home and enjoy. Please bring a cut-

ting board, knife, small container with a lid, and apron to

class.

Age: Students must be age 11 by start of class to participate.

Trust the American Red Cross, the leader in health and safety

training, to give your child the safety skills and confidence to

become a great care provider. Students will receive a hand-

book, compact disc that has numerous forms discussed during

class to print out and use, and a pocket first aid booklet to

keep once the class is over.

All participants should bring a pen and paper to class.

Optional snack & beverage can be brought to class too.

Handgun Safety Course This course provides an overview of handgun safety practices and con-

cealed carry considerations. It is designed as a safety course, not a training

course. This course does not substitute for practice and training in hand-

gun operation.

In this course, students will learn the basics of firearm safety and Wiscon-

sin requirements and considerations regarding the carry of a concealed weapon. This course meets the training requirements of Wis.

Stat. § 175.60(4), License to carry a concealed weapon. Course

conducted by a current Town of Mukwonago Police Officer holding DOJ

certification in firearms training.

Competencies and Learning Objectives 1. Recognize the Wisconsin Department of Justice process for

obtaining, maintaining, and renewing a CCW permit. 2. Accept responsibility for firearm safety in your home and in

public. 3. Analyze considerations regarding the carry of a concealed

weapon.

4. Discuss the legal implications of carrying a concealed weapon.

HOME ALONE Age: 9 and up

The Home Alone Program is designed to help parents

determine if their child is ready to stay home alone for

short periods of time, and to teach kids ages 9 and up

the basic safety skills for being at home when their

parents are gone. Both child and parent are required

to attend the 1-1/2 hour program. Children are taught

fire safety, security principles from police and fire offi-

cials while parents are allowed to ask questions of the

police and fire department representatives.

ANTI BULLYING

BOOT CAMP Sponsored by East Troy Parks & Recreation Department

Age: 5 years old and older (must be age appropriate by start of program)

Parents are strongly encouraged to attend with child.

Learn Practical Proven tactics that you can use to stop bully-

ing AS IT HAPPENS! Help your child to PREVENT bullying

and MAKE IT STOP. This program is based on Dr. George

Thompson’s Verbal Judo courses, which are taught throughout

the world to law enforcement and military professionals to

defuse potential confrontations they face in the line of duty.

This anti-bullying program is based on 28 years of experience,

and is specifically tailored for parents and children to deal

with and prevent bullying.

INDOOR SWIM SCHOOL Ages: 3-18 years old Sponsored by East Troy Park & Rec. Dept. To insure that students get the most out of their time in class, please securely tie back any hair over 2 inches long (swim cap is

recommended but not required). Swim shirts recommended especially for preschool and novice students. Goggles may not be

used during class as they interfere with proper body position and dependency can easily be developed. Parents should remain in the

building for the entire class for any issues that arise during class. Instructor: Sara Geuder

Parent & Child 1&2 Swim: Ages 6 mths-4 yrs old with an adult. Beginning safety skills, basic floating & locomotion skills, water adjustment skills, glides, entries/exits, songs & games to promote a positive water experience. Parent will be guided through the skill progressions & proper use of equipment. PRE-SCHOOL SWIM 3-5 years old, must be potty trained. Age appropriate by start of class!

PreSchool I: Introduction to basic water skills such as blowing bubbles, back float, glides, beginner stroke, & basic safety skills with assistance and aids. PreSchool 2: Must demonstrate mastered PreSchool 1 skill on first day. Working on basic water skills such as bobs, floats, glides, beginner stroke on front and back as well as basic safety skills. registered with the Town of Mukwonago Recreation Depart-

ment for the 2012 Flag Football program are invited to attend.

PARENT MEETING If you have a child playing in the 3rd/4th grade football program, you

are REQUIRED to attend one of the following parent meetings.

These meetings will be held at the Mukwonago Town Hall. One

parent (no children) is required to attend one of these meetings in

order for your child to play in the football program. If you attended

a meeting in the past, you still must attend again.

AGE/GRADE REQUIREMENT For all programs the age requirement will be as of the date of the first class unless other-wise specified. The grade requirement will be the grade the participant is currently regis-tered in. Summer programs will be the grade the child just completed. Please do not re-quest or sign your child up in a class he/she does not belong in. All age-grade require-ments are set to benefit the participant, make instruction more consistent for the program instructor, and often for the participants safety.

CANCELLATIONS The department reserves the right to cancel, postpone or combine a trip, class, program or youth sport. GovPay fees will not be re-funded, only the Activity Fee will be refunded if the Recreation Department cancels a pro-gram. REFUNDS ALL request must be received in writing Refund Description Policy Youth Sports refunds of any kind are not accepted after the Youth Sport printed start date of the individual sport. Activities and Trip refunds of any kind are not accepted after the printed registration deadline.

Participants assume the risk of changes in personal affairs, vacations, or health when they are unable to attend pro-grams. Classes missed for absence are not “made-up” nor may participants attend classes other than the one for which they are registered. Fees will be forfeited. Persons registered for a program that is cancelled by the Parks & Rec. Dept. shall receive a full refund. Persons requesting in advance to cancel their registration for any reasons shall receive a refund, less a $10.00 service charge, GovPay processing fees, any uniform and late fees assessed, provided that the request for refund is made in writing and received prior to the above Refund Description Policy. Refund for trips that require contracted transport involving late arrival/departure and contracted venue reservations will be based on fees assessed to the Town of Mukwonago Parks & Rec Dept by the contracted agency. We reserve the right to not be held financially responsible for circumstances beyond our control.

REGISTRATION CONFIRMATIONS Confirmations of Activity registrations will not be mailed. Youth Sports will receive a phone call from team coach prior to pub-lished start date. Registration form must be signed by a parent/guardian for participants under 18 years of age, or an adult participant to be valid. The Registration Department reserves the right to make final decisions on all program procedures to ensure the qual-ity of all programs. Payment must be received with regis-tration. The Town of Mukwonago Parks & Rec. Dept. reserves the right to remove any-one from our programs for falsifying registration information.

YOUTH SPORTS REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

New teams will be formed EVERY year. Youth sport teams will be organized based on grade level. Teams under 3rd grade will be formed by Rec. Dept. Teams 3rd grade and older will be formed by draft process with coaches. Team placement is final once draft is complete. You may request one (1) “Team Friend” on your registration form. “Team Friends “ MUST request each other on their registration form and be received together before the registration deadline to be considered. Please send “Team Friend” requests together in the same envelope to assist with placement. Mul-tiple name requests will not be reviewed. Due to team and practice night selection process, specific practice night requests cannot be reviewed. If our assigned night does not meet your personal schedule, review the REFUND policy if it is necessary to withdraw your registra-tion.

LOST/STOLEN ITEMS The Town of Mukwonago is not responsible for personal equipment, clothes, etc., that are lost of stolen during participation in any spon-sored activity, sport or trip. Please check the Recreation Department office for lost items. After 30 days, items will be donated to char-ity. NEW PROGRAM IDEAS The Parks & Recreation Department is always receptive to suggestions for the development of ‘new’ program offerings. Please feel free to give us a call with your ideas. SAY CHEESE! For program promotion purposes (Parks & Rec Guide, Website, flyers, etc.), photographs may be taken of participants from time to time. If you do not wish to have your photo taken; please notify the photographer and/or class instructor. WAITING LIST There may be instances where class or pro-gram that you desire are filled. Please be sure to have your name placed on a waiting list. The recreation department will try to accom-modate those on waiting lists by additional classes/programs or through cancellations, etc. INSUFFICIENT FUNDS FEES There will be a $25.00 service charge on all checks returned as non-sufficient funds. INSURANCE/LIABILITY The Town of Mukwonago does not provide medical/hospital insurance coverage for peo-ple participating in sponsored activities and cannot assume responsibility for injuries or illnesses that participants may sustain in its recreation programs. ************************************

TYPO, HUMAN ERROR? Occasionally there may be an error in days, times, registration requirements

or fees in the activity guide. When such errors occur, our staff will do everything possible to correct the

situation. We thank you for your pa-tience and understanding when these

situations arise.

RESIDENCY Registration policy and forms are located

in the back section of Activity guide. Please review thoroughly

before registering. For registration purposes, a resident is any-one who lives in the Town of Mukwonago and pays taxes to the Town of Mukwo-nago. Residency is not determined by atten-dance in the Mukwonago School district. Any person residing outside the Town of Mukwonago is considered a non-resident and will be assessed a non-resident fee. NON-RESIDENT FEE The fee for non-residents is $14.00 per par-ticipant per activity. Fee must be included with your registration. In Co-op programs the host community non-resident fee will be used. LATE FEE Registration received after 3:30 p.m. on the deadline date are considered late. A non-refundable late fee of $12.00 per participant, per activity will be assessed. The Recreation Director will determine acceptance of late registrations based on program availability.
