IAB Recognition & Awards Committee

• The IAB group has been encouraging our IAB members to nominate co-workers for IIE Industry-related Awards

• Several Industry-related Awards were identified, and some easy to follow instructions with key deadlines, were sent out several times during the year

• The IAB group was very successful this year in increasing the number of Award Nominations from Industry

• Need to continue with the IAB next year and expand it to others in Industry (using IIE interest groups & other Industry sources)

Where we’re looking to go?

STEM

Science, Technology, Engineering, MathThe US is losing its competitive advantage in math and science while the rest of the world continues to pull ahead. Our knowledge capital, which fuels innovation and economic growth, is at risk.*

Two major problems are contributing to a U.S. STEM crisis:

1. Lack of student engagement in STEM subjects

2. Shortage of qualified STEM teachers

US is ranked 27th out of 29 for the rate of STEM degrees awarded in developed countries**
