Description

The simple pleasures ofjust getting around are essential to thisactivity-heavy excursion into the desertkingdom: Mule treks into the AtlasMountains, bike rides through ruggedlybeautiful mountain passes, even a camelcaravan to a campsite in the desert. Butit’s not all tramping about in the dunesand hills; you’ll also have the chance toexplore Essaouira, the fortified city onthe Atlantic coast that was once a havenfor pirates.

Brief Itinerary
Day 1 Marrakech
Arrive at any time.
Day 2 Ouirgane (1B,1D)
Transfer to Ouirgane, mule ride up to Tasa Ouirgane.
Day 3 Ouirgane Valley (1B,1L,1D)
Day hiking through olive groves and Berber hamlets in the Atlas mountains. Visit ancientsalt mines and view the traditional production of olive oil. Lunch with a local family.
Day 4-5 Tafraoute (2B,1L)
Drive to the Anti Atlas Mountains across the spectacular Tizi'n'Test pass, stopping onthe way to visit the 12th Century Tin Mal Mosque. Cycle through painted blue rocks androck formations around Tafraoute.
Day 6 Sidi Kaouki (1B,1D)
Transfer to the Moroccan coastline south of Sidi Kaouki, then meet the camels for a trekalong the coast. Set up camp for the night along the beach.
Day 7 Atlantic Coast (1B,1L,1D)
Full-day camel trek through remote villages, picnic lunch en route. End the day enjoyingthe stars with a mint tea at a beach campsite.
Day 8 Essaouira (1B)
Rise early for the final camel trek. Transfer to Essaouira for a free afternoon of optionalactivities. There's plenty to do in the city – take to the surf or wander among the bustlingsouks.
Day 9 Essaouira/Marrakech (1B)
Free morning in Essaouira, then transfer to Marrakech in the afternoon for a final eveningto explore the famous Djemaa el Fna Square.
Day 10 Marrakech (1B)
Depart at any time.
