Totus TuusTotus Tuus, Latin for “Totally Yours,” is a week-long summer catechetical youth program that combines Catholic religious instruction and having FUN! A team of college-age students and seminarians are coming to the region the week of June 11-16. The youthfulness and energy of the teachers inspires their faith sharing, and their enthusiasm is contagious, so come out and join us.
Totus Tuus is Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-2:30 PM, for schoolchildren going into grades 1-6. The day includes catechetical instruction on the theme of the Mystery of Salvation and Joyful Mysteries of the Rosary, songs and skits that are silly but teach the faith, encounters with the sac-
raments, particularly Confession and Eucharist, and time for games and recess. There is also a teen program of Totus Tuus on Sunday-Thursday, 7:00 PM-9:00 PM. This is for students entering grades 7-12 and will include more in-depth discussions on our theme. All parishioners are invited to a potluck dinner on Wednesday at 5:30 PM.
Cost is $20 per student (with maximum of $60 per family). Our Totus Tuus program will be held at St. Margaret-St. John in Fairfax, 6000 Murray Rd., Cincinnati, Oh 45227.
For more information, please contact Cody Egner at (513) 871-5757, ext. 215, or [email protected]. To register, please visit eastsidefaith.org.

A GOSPEL REFLECTION by Father Jason Williams
MATTHEW 28:16-20
“Behold, I am with you always.”
A G
T H E C O R N E R
It seems like a mistake that our Lord should promise his unending presence with his dis-
ciples at the very moment he is leaving them to be with his Father, yet it is no mistake. He
remained alive and present with them, just as he lives among us still today. In the midst of
centuries of human innovation and discovery, in the eras of conquest and growth that have
punctuated history since our Lord completed the work he came to accomplish, he has remained faithful in his pursuit to
bring all of us to eternal communion with him and his Father.
His human presence resides in its glorified state with the Father; humanity and divinity are restored to perfect union
in the ascended Christ. However, the ever-living Word of God remains very near to us indeed. The Word who became flesh
and dwelt among us continually invites each human soul to dialogue. It is through this divine encounter that we hear God
speaking to us, encouraging us, and reminding us of all that he has done for us. As the Word calls us to be where he is, he
also forms us and sends us forth with the task of bringing others to know him as well. The Lord lives with us in order to love
through us. What an excellent opportunity we have today to renew our desire to be more closely attuned to God’s presence
in our lives and to respond to that presence with generous fidelity to his compassionate, loving will!

Our Pentecost tradition is wearing red to Mass, which symbolizes the fire of the Holy Spirit. After Mass we celebrate the birthday of the Church with the release of seven doves symbolizing the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. We invite you and your friends and family to join us next Sunday for this wonderful celebration!

What significance does the New Testament have for Christians? In the New Testament,
God’s revelation is completed. The four Gospels according to Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are the centerpiece of
Sacred Scripture and the most precious treasure of the Church. In them the Son of God shows himself as he is and en-
counters us. In the Acts of the Apostles, we learn about the beginnings of the Church and the working of the Holy Spirit.
In the letters written by the apostles, all facets of human life are set in the light of Christ. In the Book of Revelation, we
foresee the end of the ages. [124-127, 128-130, 140]
Jesus is everything that God would like to tell us. The entire Old Testament prepares for the Incarnation of God’s Son. All
of God’s promises find their fulfillment in Jesus. To be a Christian means to unite oneself ever more deeply with the life of
Christ. To do that, one must read and live the Gospels. Madeleine Delbrêl says, “Through his Word God tells us what he is
and what he wants; he says it definitively and says it for each individual day. When we hold our Gospel book in our hands,
we should reflect that in it dwells the Word that wants to become flesh in us, desires to take hold of us, so that we might
begin his life anew in a new place, at a new time, in a new human setting.” (YOUCAT question 18)
Meet the Saints: St. Peter Chanel (1803-1841)Anyone who has worked in loneliness, with great adaptation required and with little apparent success, will find a kin-dred spirit in Peter Chanel.
Born in France, Peter’s interest in the missions began in school, when he read letters missionaries to America sent back home. As a young priest,
Peter revived a parish in a “bad” district by the simple method of showing great devotion to the sick. Wanting to be a missionary, he joined the Society of Mary, the Marists, at 28. Obediently, he taught in the seminary for five years. Then, as superior of seven Marists, he traveled to Western Oceania. The bishop accompanying the missionaries left Peter and a brother on Futuna Island northeast of Fiji, promising to return in six months. He was gone five years.
Meanwhile, Peter struggled with this new language and mastered it, making the difficult adjustment to life with whalers, traders, and warring natives. Despite little apparent success and severe want, he maintained a serene and gentle spirit, plus endless patience and courage. A few natives had been baptized, a few more were being instructed. When the chieftain’s son asked to be baptized, persecution by the chieftain reached a climax. Father Chanel was clubbed to death.
Within two years after his death, the whole island became Catholic and has remained so. He was canonized by Pope Pius XII in 1954. Peter Chanel is the first martyr of Oceania and its patron. – www.franciscanmedia.org

falling stones.” – Michael Cardinal Von Faulhaber

MAY CROWNING: It makes sense that in the Month of Mary we crown the Blessed Virgin as Queen of Heaven. This has been an annual tradition for a while at St. Cecilia. On the evening that we crown Mary, all in the parish are invited and the entirety of St. Cecilia School participates. The pictures above reflect not only that there was a packed church, but the sacredness with which St. Cecilia honors the Mother of our Lord. 1 DOCE DE MAYO: Our annual Hispanic festival was a huge hit again this year. The food and drinks were outstanding, and everyone had fun listening and dancing to the band. We also enjoyed watch-ing our students perform Latino dances. Thank you to all of the school parents, children and parishioners involved in making this such a success. I heard wonderful compliments from our Oakley neighbors about what a great night they had at our Doce de Mayo. Enjoy the photos below.

Eucharistic Adorers Needed Pope Paul VI said “The most efficacious way of growing in holiness is time spent with Jesus in the Most Holy Sacrament.” (Mysterium Fidei) What an unimagin-able gift we have been given … Jesus, the Son of God, truly present on the altar at St. Cecilia every Wednesday waiting for each one of us to come to him that he might embrace us with his divine love.
Set aside some time each week and make a date to visit with Jesus between 9:30 AM-8 PM on Wednesdays. New
adorers are presently needed to commit to a definite adoration time each week to ensure someone is in church with the Lord at all times, especially between 11:30 AM-12:30 PM and 2-4 PM. There is also a pressing need for substitute adorers to fill in as needed. Please call 513-871-5757, ext. 243, to sign up.
