This is not a conventional résumé: rather, I invite you, the reader, in. This is an adventurous fusion of visual and authored representation of my career life. I seek to highlight my creative side and to demonstrate my ability to communicate well and to operate at a strategic level. I wish to help you in your job of narrowing candidates by breaking out my education and my life experience into functional areas of expertise. I have chosen 5 major themes: Graduate Studies, Aboriginal Outreach Specialist; Project Management; Research, Analysis and Policy; and Land Use Planning for this particular résumé.

In the Graduate Studies section, I extracted key points from my degree I think you might find useful. In the pages following, I have organized my employment history to show how they support major themes. For completeness, I have extracted a variety of professional, technical and computer-related skills,

I have published several public or proprietary articles, books, and papers which I list on a separate page. This document culminates in an abridged listing of my career history. My contact information is found on the last page of this document.

HighlightsI earned an MA in Environmental Education and Communication with a GPA of 4.0.My thesis culminated in a Substantive Grounded Theory, with Corollaries, shown at right .I was winner of The Chawkers Foundation Award, The McLean Foundation Award, and Royal Roads University’s Founder’s Award. My thesis was nominated for the Governor General’s Gold Medal Award.I have developed strong skills in research, analysis, critical thinking, technical, professional, and academic writing, team collaboration, working at a distance, and more.My curriculum themes are shown below:

Dances with words: Ecosystem terminology and the Gitxsan language

Substantive Grounded Theory

Gitxsan traditional ecological knowledge and ecological science are highly compatible at a basic level of terminology. However, neither TEK nor ES terms can be abstracted from their respective cultures and understood independently.

Corollaries

TEK exists within a network of practices and language that emphasize personal ethics and responsibility towards one’s territory, and all living or non-living parts of it. In contrast, ecological science exists within a network of practices and language that emphasize professional ethics and responsibility towards one’s discipline, and all social or professional aspects of it.

TEK is learned personally, locally, and immediately through the body in relationship with the land. Ecological science is learned impersonally, universally, and disinterestedly, through the mind in relationship with other minds.

At higher levels, TEK keepers and ES researchers can understand and communicate with each other to the degree they understand how and are willing to participate in each other’s cultures and systems of training.
