ISLAND INSPIRATION – SPRING | SUMMER 2013

A love of travel and exploring beautiful beach destinations of the world has long influenced designer Tosca Delfino, and even more so, since she burst onto the international scene with the launch of her luxury line of fresh, sexy swimwear with its distinctive indie-twist. Following an impromptu visit last year to the idyllic Cayman Islands, Tosca was immediately taken with the impossibly blue waters, lush natural surroundings and cosmopolitan sensibility of the destination, setting out to design a signature collection reflective of her experiences in this sophisticated locale.

Tosca’s namesake line, TOSCA DELFINO SWIM, is now recognized for developing prints through digital manipulation of photography. This unique, one-of-a-kind print technique is also expressed in the TOSCA DELFINO SWIM, Signature Cayman Islands Collection - from photography she captured on her visit to the Cayman Turtle Farm, Seven Mile Beach, Stingray City and more, and by textures including the native Silver Thatch Palm Tree, to local delicacies enjoyed, such as conch ceviche. The collection, with its unique prints and global sensibility, is intended to be worn on, and off the beach, by a woman who is stylish, fashion forward and loves to travel.

In preparation for the launch of this new line, a model casting was held at the Ritz-Carlton, Toronto, where model Lydia Bojeczko from Elmer Olsen model management was selected by a panel of fashion and travel industry experts. Following the casting, Lydia joined the TOSCA DELFINO SWIM team and the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism in Grand Cayman, for a photo shoot with Miss Cayman Islands, Lindsay Japal. Cayman’s most beautiful backdrops and arresting vistas were the setting for this dramatic shoot held on the powdery white sand of famed Seven Mile Beach, along the shores of secluded Starfish Point, at the luxurious Caribbean Club hotel and upon the stunning yacht, Natalita III.
