ATG and its subsidiaries, ATG Trust Company and Capital Funding, announce the launch of a new service: ATG Legal Education. ATG has a long history of providing lawyers with quality educational seminars—now, with Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) in Illinois, we are enhancing our programs and upgrading our delivery systems. We will provide ATG members with a variety of ways to meet MCLE requirements and improve their real estate, title insurance, estate planning, and related legal skills.

Topics | Our 2006 calendar offers an ambitious group of programs. See our website for complete details and on-line registration.

MCLE Credit | As the MCLE Board and staff establish procedures in Illinois, we will submit our programs for approval as we already do in Wisconsin and Indiana.

Locations | To make MCLE compliance easy and affordable, with as little time away from the office as possible, we have expanded our locations and are exploring remote learning options via the web to bring programs to your office.

Fee Structure | We have developed the following modest, competitive fee structure, which applies to select programs (see program descriptions for details):

Active ATG member attorneys* $65 per person per session

Paralegals and staff employed by active ATG member attorneys $25 per person per session

Inactive ATG member attorneys and their paralegals and staff; non-member attorneys; all others

$110 per person per session

*issued and remitted at least one policy during the current year.

We hope you take advantage of ATG educational programs as your best source for MCLE and CLE compliance in your state. Because seating is limited, we strongly recommend that you register early. About Us New MCLE Requirements in Illinois

On September 29, 2005, the Illinois Supreme Court established the Minimum Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) program (Supreme Court Rules 790-797, “MCLE Rules”). It is “intended to assure that those attorneys licensed to practice law in Illinois remain current regarding the requisite knowledge and skills necessary to fulfill the professional responsibilities and obligations of their respective practices and thereby improve the standards of the profession in general.” Illinois attorneys subject to the MCLE Rules will be required to complete 20 hours of CLE activity during their initial two-year reporting period, 24 hours of CLE activities during their second two-year reporting period, and 30 hours of CLE activity during all subsequent two-year reporting periods. These must include a minimum of four hours in the area of professionalism. See website below for details. Attorneys admitted to practice after December 31, 2005, must complete a Basic Skills Course, totaling at least 15 hours of instruction. Topics include local court practices and other rudimentary elements of the practice of law. For more information, go to: http://www.state.il.us/court/MCLE/default.htm.
