Topic for a thesis in hydrogeology A prerequisite for doing a thesis in the field of Hydrogeology (i.e. with Roland Barthel and/or Stefan Banzhaf as main supervisor) is the successful completion of the course GVG340 Hydrogeology I (Bachelor Thesis) and GVG460 Applied Hydrogeology (Master Thesis) or equivalent courses from other Universities. To do a thesis with an external supervisor is possible, but requires a discussion with Roland Barthel/Stefan Banzhaf before the project is carried out.

Topic for a thesis in hydrogeology

A prerequisite for doing a thesis in the field of Hydrogeology (i.e. with Roland Barthel and/or Stefan Banzhaf as main supervisor) is the successful completion of the course GVG340 Hydrogeology I (Bachelor Thesis) and GVG460 Applied Hydrogeology (Master Thesis) or equivalent courses from other Universities.

All of these groundwater level timeseries have the same length and the same number of measurments.

Why do they lock so different?

Because they come from different geological settings!

But which geological factorsdetermine the shape of the series?

Project title: Hydrogeological classification

Advisor: Roland Barthel

Description: The objective of this project is to classify groundwater resources in Sweden according to geological criteria. A main focus will also be on the classification of observed data (time series) and to determine how different ”behavior” (i.e. the way observations change over time) can be related to the geological criteria. This project will not include any field work. Main methods will be GIS, statistics including time series analysis and requires good knowledge of quaternary geology in Sweden. This project may be performed by a group of up to three students.

Comment: There is a possibility to make this a two-person project.
