THE 55th WARSAW AUTUMN

The 55th “Warsaw Autumn” InternationalFestivalofContemporaryMusic,tobeheldSeptember21–29,2012 is titled “WarsawAutumn… with a voice”. It is the onlyfestivalinPolandonaninternationalscaleandwascreatedin1956,duringthethawthatfollowedyearsofStalinistdictatorship.TheFestivalcontinuedwithoutinterruption(with two exceptions) during the entirecommunist era and for many years wasthe only event of this kind inCentral andEastern Europe. The Festival still playsanessentialroleinshapingcontemporaryculture in Poland.
