PRESIDENT’S REPORT
Page 3 Volume 30, Issue 2
Hello everyone, welcome to the February newsletter.
Welcome to the New Year! As everybody knows, Barb and I have been very
busy over the last 3 months travelling around England and Europe and then
back home planning at the very last minute our 40th wedding anniversary cel-
ebration. The number of people celebrating it with us turned out to be big-
ger than our original wedding. We had the most wonderful time and thank
everyone who joined us to mark the occasion.
A big thank you to Jim and Trish who have organised our last two car runs.
The first run took us through the Ravensbourne National Park and through the area where the fires have
been. Sad to see its destruction.
The second was joining the Morris Registers’ run to Col Schiller’s car museum. Always an interesting day
out at Col’s with his wonderful collection of vehicles.
A few of us also attended the Australia Day weekend at Allora for their Heritage Festival.
I have started on our daughter's 2 door ‘59 Morris. The car has been totally pulled apart with the shell now
sitting on Jim's rotisserie ready for some decent work to commence. What a god send that bit of kit is! It's
going to be a total rebuild which is turning out to be a family project, so we are chasing chrome bits and
pieces and anything else you may have at home.
We have a couple of runs coming up over the
next few weeks. First up is Maree’s
run to Peacehaven Park on Sunday
the 23rd followed by the CAR Inc
meeting a week later. Be sure to
join in.
Well that's all from me, your fearless
leader.

SECRETARY/EDITOR NOTES
A very quick report this time around, as Anne and I are in New Zealand for a family reunion. Far from the
leisurely holiday we were expecting, starting with a family reunion it has been hectic and non-stop ever
since.
A reminder to members that our monthly Thursday Meeting on the 20th has been moved to Sunday 23rd
February and will be held in conjunction with Maree’s run to Peacehaven Park. We’ll be meeting at Mt
Kynoch at 7:30am and heading to Peacehaven Park from there. Please see the Upcoming Events page for full
details.
Also, a reminder that the CAR Inc weekend away at Chinchilla is on the 1st March. There will be a stroll
around the Botanical Gardens at 9:30am for those interested, followed by a morning tea provided by the
Chinchilla Club in the parklands at 10:30am. The CAR Inc meeting will commence after the morning tea.
There will also be a BBQ lunch, sausage sizzle at 12—12:30 for those attending.
Roy
Barb and I bought the ‘59 2 door
about 10 years ago. It had been
sitting in a shed for about 30
years.
It’s in Palm Green which only
came out in that colour for that
year.
It will be completely rebuilt for
our daughter Amanda, who in-
tends to drive it as a daily driver
as she loves driving ours.

Sunday January 19th dawned with a “not so sure what the weather is going to do?” kind of day. Knowing our Morrie's windscreen wipers have a mind
of their own in wet weather we opted to leave Doris at home in favour of the air conditioned plastic.
By the time we arrived at the meeting point, quite a crowd had already gathered, it was then off towards
Ravensbourne National Park. First stop was The Gus Beutel Lookout with a picturesque view across the valley. There was no sign of the recent devastating bush fires in view, though the stunning dark storm clouds building in the distance gave a dramatic effect to an already beautiful scenery. Morning tea was enjoyed sur-rounded by the sounds of happy twittering birds.
Then on to Lake Cressbrook, and
here we did see the aftermath of the re-cent fires. We should all really ad-
mire the skill of the firefighters as they managed to save so much of the region.
Considering the dam-age, it's amazing how quickly the bush re-generates in a few
short weeks. Arriving at Lake
Cressbrook we were all astounded by how low the water level was, and I recall
reading a comment by Mick about how it
would be a good time to clean out the dam. Too right, there were signs warning us not to use the lake for swimming or even for boating—and that wasn’t likely anyway as the water fell well below the level of the
boat ramps. The pelicans and other water birds didn’t mind one bit however and were having a grand old time sailing around the 'pond'.
The rain finally started as we were driving around Lake Perseverance on the way to Hampton. There are some magnificent rocky outcrops lining the road as you drive up and out of the dam region and would be well worth visiting on a sunny day.
Lunch at the Emeraude Eatery in Hampton was a friendly affair. Al fresco, good food, good company, some good jokes, and a surprising shower for those whose backs were in the wrong place when the rain suddenly came down in buckets. Quick thinking from a member of staff saved them from a drenching.
Once again, thank you Jim, for a great day and a well thought out run with our Morrie friends.

GENERAL BUSINESS:
• Terry Brown advised that the next CAR Inc meeting will be held in Chinchilla on the 1st March.
• Roy Hall commented that he had requested application forms for e-statements from the Heritage
bank. Currently hard copies are supplied by the Heritage Bank and posted to our PO Box. It
would be more convenient to receive electronic statements by
email.
• Dennis Smith moved that the necessary forms be completed and
lodged to receive e-statements. Seconded Jan Smith. Carried.
• It was further discussed that nowadays the volume of mail re-
ceived monthly in our PO Box is extremely small with most
correspondence arriving electronically. Each month it is usually
one hard copy newsletter from another club and one bank state-
ment to clear making it not particularly viable to continue with
the service.
• It was moved by Roy Hall that the PO Box service be discontin-
