Beginwithastackofbookswithwhichthestudentsarefamiliar,eitherbecauseyouhavereadthemaloudorbecauseyouknowthattheyhavereadorheardthemintheclassroom.Asyouholdupeachbook,askstudentstoraisetheirhandsiftheyknowoneofthethreecomponents.Asyoucallonthem,askthemtosay,“AUTHOR,”“TITLE,”or“SUB-JECT”andthengivethematchingelement.(Note:youmaywanttolisttheseonachartyouhavecre-atedonyoureaselorwhiteboard.)Taketimetodiscussthesimilaritiesanddifferencesbetweenasubjectsearchandakeywordsearch.
