PEER SUPPORT This week, in Peer Support, students will discuss skills and how to communicate their feelings and needs to others. The children will discuss skills they use when participating in a variety of activities. When children understand they already have many of the skills needed to succeed, they can feel more confident when trying something new. The children will be identifying events which trigger different feelings. I encourage you to have a conversation with your child to remember skills they have used in an activity when trying something new.

Wednesday 14 August, 2019 Dear Parents and Carers, We are writing to you to ask for support with our P&C initiatives and fundraising at the school. Lately, we have been struggling to attract enough volunteers and support with our efforts, which fund and subsidise many things that benefit the students in our school. We are small team of volunteers, who like you have busy lives. We understand that families are busy and have many responsibilities, but we are asking everyone to please consider contributing to our efforts when you are asked. For example, we ran a cake stall earlier in the year and outside of the P&C, only five families from the entire school contributed baked goods towards this event. The reality is, without the support of the wider school community with our fundraising and volunteering, the P&C will no longer be able to provide and subsidise many activities your children enjoy such as the gymnastics program, school disco, subsided fees for leisure sports, the canteen, Skoolbag app, Mothers and Father’s Day stalls, the conversion of the sports shed to office space and sensory space, sporting equipment. The list goes on. We do a lot behind the scenes and are just asking for your support. Often, we are not asking much and even helping in a small way, helps us tremendously. Ways you can help are: Volunteer 2 hours once a year in the Canteen (or more if you can)

Buy and sell the raffle tickets/fundraising goods

Consider donating goods for the Mothers and Father’s Day stalls

Making or buying cakes for cake stalls and sports carnivals

Volunteering your time at working bees and fundraisers (often we only need a couple of hours of your time)

Help organise, set up or supervise the school disco

Volunteer for a term in the uniform shop

Take on an executive role in the P&C

Attend a P&C meeting

And finally to stay aware of current P&C initiatives, please read the P&C section of the ‘Bulletin’.

If you would like to discuss ways you can help, please contact Karley on 0406 175 541. Kind Regards, Tomerong Public School P&C
