Muffin Tin Coin CountingUsing real coins, a muffin tin, and paper cupcake liners set up a coin-counting activity. Write different coin amounts at the bottom of the paper cupcake liners, or you can use dot stickers and silicone cupcake liners if available. Using real coins or play money, let your child count out and place the amount shown into the cup and then move on to the next one.

Your child can also keep track of their combinations using a coin-counting recording sheet. They can draw the coins that made up the combination for each amount in the muffin tin.

Pro Tips:

To make this more challenging, add amounts using dollars and cents (ex. $1.30).

To modify for kids learning the coin amounts, start with basics—write amounts to represent pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters.
