ABOUT US Tokyo Metropolitan Tama High School

Tama high school is located in Ome city, Tokyo. Ome city is often regarded as the

countryside of Tokyo. It is surrounded by mountains and forests, and it is a beautiful site

throughout the year, as the changing seasons bring out the best in this natural environment.

Our school was established in 1923, making it one of the oldest schools in Tokyo. Some

members of the community attended this school and have since had their children and

grandchildren attend this school. As a result, our school is community centered, with

members of the local community playing a vital part in the school. Members of the

community assist in making the school environment conducive for learning and safe for the

students. Furthermore, our students are also involved in community programs, such as

volunteering their services to the elders around the community and cleaning the area, as well

as helping with local traditional festivals, known as the Ome Taisai.

Our school caters to a variety of students, with different academic needs. Therefore, we try to

diversify our courses based on the careers that our students want to pursue. There are courses

designed for students who want to go to university and we also offer civil service exams for

students who want to get a job soon after they graduate. Teachers at our school do their best

to assist students in choosing the right career paths. We have young, vibrant, and enthusiastic

teachers, who often go the extra mile in assisting students with their studies and also offer

support and encouragement to students who are struggling with personal problems.

Furthermore, our school offers a variety of school activities, such as soccer, baseball,

volleyball, cycling, tennis, kendo, cooking, art, basketball, dance, badminton, photography,

English club, tea ceremony club, music, theater and acting club, animation club and so forth.

Our school year is filled with activities, such as the Okutama walk, where students and

teachers participate in a five hour walk around the Ome area, looking at beautiful natural

sites. Moreover, the sports festival, where students participate in different sports challenges,

while competing with other classes. Additionally, the Tama festival, where student really get

to show their creative side, by decorating their classrooms in different themes, and this event

is opened for all to see, parents, friends and members and the community.

Your interest in our school is appreciated. If you have any further questions, please feel free

to contact us. We would be more than happy to help you. Thank you.
