1963

FoundationDrillcon was founded in 1963 in Nora, Sweden under the name Kärnborrning AB as a subsidiary to Hagby Bruk AB, a manufacturer of core drilling machines and equipment. The purpose with the company was to test and develop drilling equip-ment under realistic conditions. The business grew and developed into a true contracting company.

1989

Sale of CompanyIn 1989, Hagby Bruk sold the company to the man-agement and the company continued to grow.

1991

AcquisitionIn 1991, the state owned drilling contractor SGAB Borr was acquired. SGAB had at the time sixty em-ployees and a large number of drill rigs and was the biggest competitor to Kärnborrning AB.

1993

New AcquisitionIn 1993, the Boliden’s internal contracting division (Boliden GB) was acquired and the Drillcon Group was formed. Boliden GB was primarily active in raiseboring, drill and blast and transport in Boliden’s mines. Boliden GB was sold in 1996 except for the raiseboring business that was kept under the name Drillcon Raise AB.

1994

New SubsidiaryIn 1994, the subsidiary Drillcon Iberia SA was founded. Later all activities in Portugal, performed by Drillcon Raise AB and Drillcon Core AB, were transferred to the new subsidiary Drillcon Iberia SA.

2001

RestructuringDuring 2001, Drillcon Raise AB was split and some equipment was sold and the rest were transferred to Drillcon Core AB in Sweden and rented to Drill-con Iberia SA.

2006

Stock Exchange EntryIn August 2006 Drillcon was listed on First North MTF (Stockholm Stock Exchange).

2007

New AcquisitionThe biggest core drilling contractor in Finland, Smoy (Suomen Malmi OY) was acquired by Drillcon in April 2007.

2009

New SubsidiaryIn 2009, the subsidiary Drillcon Norway was founded.

2011

New AcquisitionIn 2011, Nibu Borr AB core drilling division was acquired.

2013

50 Year CelebrationIn 2013, Drillcon was celebrated it’s 50-year anni-versary.

2015

RefocusingDuring 2015, it was decided to close down Drillcon SMOY (Suomen Malmi OY).

2016

New MarketIn 2016, Drillcon Americas SpA was founded, seat-ed in Santiago, Chile.

2016

New StructureDuring 2016 Drillcon Core AB was re-organized and changed name to Drillcon Scandinavia AB and each subsidiary took responsibility for all drilling services in the market they operate in.

Being the market leader within the segment Drillcon disposes a modern and well maintained equipment. The crews are well trained and have experience in all different aspects of core drilling. Within the construction segment we provide solutions for the re-enforcement of water dams, ground re-enforcement and injection drilling. We also provide and perform Directional Core Drilling and positional surveys of completed holes, using state-of-the-art measurement instruments.

Drillcon has increased the focus of raiseboring seg-ment. In the Iberian Peninsula market we are market leader and our aim is to be market leader in all of Europe and Latin America. Our fleet of raiseboring rigs is well maintained with a capacity of 0,66-6,5 m in diameter.

Within this segment, we provide services including bore hole deviation surveys, Ground Penetration Radar on surface and in-hole.
