    Handa ba Metro?

When the Americans present-ed these scenarios, that was only

when I started to appreciate thegravity of the problems we mightface, ani Ramos sa isangpanayam ng RADYO INQUIRER.

Sa pag-aaral ng Japan Interna-tional Cooperation Agency (Jica),Philippine Institute of Volcanologyand Seismology (Phivolcs), atMetropolitan Manila Development

Authority (MMDA) noong Marso2004, pinakita na kung tatama saKamaynilaan ang 7.2 magnitude nalindol, [a]s the worst case, 170,000

residential houses will collapse,340,000 residential houses will bedamaged, 34,000 people will die,114,000 others will be injured.

Kung ito ang mangyayari, si-nabi ni Ramos na may plano angpamahalaan, na we dont want tohave to implement.

Aniya, pinaghandaan na ito ngmga local government unit.

Sun Cellular leads Prepaid Marketwith best Year-on-Year PerformanceSun Cellular leads the market having posted the industrys highest growth in the mobile prepaid

segment for the first half of the year with a 15% increase versus the same period last year. Sun Cel-lular officials attribute the growth to its expanding network reach, best-value products, and addedfeatures to its unlimited load variants and SIM cards.

Sun earlier reported a 17% increase in over-all net service revenues for the first half of 2012.We are thrilled that our customers continue to patronize our best value prepaid line of products

and services. We continue to enhance our product offerings such as adding 100 texts to all networksto our very popular Php25 1-day Call and Text Unlimited. said Joel Lumanlan, Sun Cellulars VicePresident for Prepaid Business. Responsive to the needs of our customers, we came up with new loadvariants such as the TextALL Plus 25 which gives our subscribers not only texts to all networks but also60 minutes of Sun calls and 30 minutes of mobile internet. Products such as these have proven to bequite popular with old and new customers alike. He added.

Lumanlan further shared, We have also observed that aside from the increasing demand for ourbest value daily unlimited and bucket products, more and more subscribers are using our prepaidloads with longer validity as they offer not only greater value for money but also convenience and se-curity. Topping up with load good for a month, for example, gives our subscribers the benefits of un-limited or bucket services at a lower effective price per day, and the convenience of longer validity,

Sun recently launched two new Call & Text Combo variants the Call and Text Combo 50 andCall and Text Combo 150 which give subscribers more calls and texts within the Sun network, textsto other networks, plus longer validity of 5 and 15 days, respectively. It also introduced a new TextUnlimited load the Text Unlimited 60 which offers unlimited Sun texts and an hour of Sun calls allvalid for 7 days. Currently, Sun also offers Unlimited Text 300 which gives subscribers unlimited Suntexts, texts to other networks, and calls to Sun, Smart, and Talk N Text valid for 30 days.

Lumanlan said that the launch of new prepaid SIMs and the enhanced features of the existing oneshelped Sun acquire new subscribers from different demographic and social groups. We put extraeffort in better understanding our subscribers so that we can offer them the best value products that

suit their needs, budgets and preferences. he concluded.

    No social life for Leo

Theres always somethingnew to marvel about Leo thethespian. Yet Leo as a friend re-

mains the same after every criti-cally-acclaimed performance.

Many awards after, Leo isnot one to sit on his laurels. The Engineer is out to mesmer-ize us again, this time as theKing of Siam, in Resorts WorldManilas production ofThe Kingand I, which opens Sept. 15(call 836-6333 or log on to

    www.rwmanila.com).

Director Freddie Santos issaid to have done a fresh takeon the Rodgers and Hammer-

stein stage musical.Excerpts of my interview

with His Majesty Leo V:Who is harder to portray,

the King or The Engineer, andwhy?

Theyre both challenging... Ithought the King would beharder because he has morelines of dialogue, and I was asinger first and foremost beforeI became an actor. But I remem-ber that, in musical theater, you

sing the lyrics to make itsound conversational. In TheKing and I, I just realized thatall I needed to do was speakthe words. The bottom line is,

you give the role the truththat it deserves

In what ways can you re-late to your role in The Kingand I?

By being in control of situa-tions, whatever they may be,and wanting only the very bestoutcome. But deep inside, Ihave doubts, just like the King.

How is the play differentfrom its Broadway version?

The King and I at ResortsWorld Manila has an all-Filipinocast and Im working with someof the most talented bunch of

actors. Considering the multi-million-dollar production cost ofBroadway vis--vis the multimil-lion-peso budget of the Manila

production, I must say that weare doing alright.Whats something new you

learned about Monique Wil-son (who plays Anna) duringrehearsals?

I have always admiredMoniques work. Now that

were working together againafter her New Voice Companysproduction ofChess, I admireher more as someone who ispassionate about her work andher personal advocacy for wom-ens rights.

How do you destress afterrigorous rehearsals?

I need complete quiet athome after rehearsals. My regu-lar 10-km run helps clear mymind as well. I feel Im one

with the universe when I run bymy lonesome in the quiet of thenight. My social life and otherextras take a huge step back-

wards at this time. What can the public look

forward to in The Kingand I?

Aside from its beautiful storyand the songs, the Manila pro-duction is considered lavish,

with costumes and sets person-ally supervised by our directorFreddie Santos. I would like topersonally commend ResortsWorld Manila for continuing itsadvocacy of supporting and re-

    viving Philippine theater.
