Oakvillegreen tree planting at Shell Park
Volunteers are sought for Oakvil-legreen’s Shell Park tree planting May 10.
The two-hour event is hosted by Ground Breakers, an Oakvillegreen program that has seen the planting of approximately 16,000 native trees and shrubs in Oakville since 2004.
People will meet in the parking lot, at 10 a.m., on the left side of the Lakeshore Road West entrance — the park is located at Lakeshore and Great Lakes Boulevard.
It’s suitable for students earning community hours, families or busi-nesses hosting teambuilding events.
While shovels and gloves will be provided, volunteers are welcome to bring their own.
Other upcoming Ground Breaker tree-planting events include:
• Friday, April 25 at Beechnut Forest Park, Ford and Aspen Forest drives, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
• Saturday, April 26 at Woodgate Park, Parkglen Avenue and Spring-dale Road, off of Third Line, 1:30-3:30 p.m.
Interested participants can contact Liz Benneian, Oakvillegreen’s manager of partnership programs, at [email protected].
