To the Amazing Volunteer using this trolley, Firstly, thanks so much for returning to face-to-face Scouting. We know it’s not been an easy few months but your unwavering commitment is what we know provides our Young People with the essential Skills for Life they need now more than ever.
This trolley is packed full with fun activities for all ages and abilities. It’s designed with a degree of social distancing in mind too!
When you flick through you’ll see each activity has the equipment you’ll need, instructions and activity specific risks. Make sure you read these before you begin.
We’re happy to be providing all of this, including the field hire, completely free. We know things get broken and damaged along the way so all we ask is you do the best you can to look after the equipment, and if something does get lost or broken please let the site supervisor know.
We hope you and your Young People have the best time!

Minesweeper
Suitable For At One Time: Any number but a team of between 4 and 6 is ideal
Equipment Included: An 8 by 8 grid is marked on the Field. Grid cards are in the back of this folder
Instructions:
• Each team member must cross the minefield without exploding a mine.
• You could use the hula hoops so that each scout has a starting point socially distanced from the others.
• Leader chooses a grid card (some are easier than others) • First Scout starts and continues across the minefield until they step
on a mine. They must then return to the team. • Use the airhorn to signal an exploding mine (please remember the
neighbours!) • Stepping on a white line also explodes a mine! • The next Scout has a go at crossing the minefield. • Clearly the further a Scout gets the more important memory is for
the next Scout. • When all have crossed consider another route. • You can make your own routes up and could always have moving
mines - but that might be mean!!
Activity Specific Risk & Mitigation:
• No specific risks

• Start about 5 metres from gate 1. A Scout needs to be blindfolded • Give the blindfolded Scout a radio – they need to do nothing other
than listen to instructions. • Give the other team member the second radio. • The idea is for the blindfolded Scout to be guided around the course
by the other Scout • The winning team being the one to complete the course first. • Make it harder – consider penalties if a gate is touched. • A team of two Scouts should each have the same colour coded
radio (sticker on back) • Radios only need to be turned on and pressed to transmit – no other
settings should be changed • Alternative – give instructions using the whistles – quite a challenge
with two teams!

• To set up simply place the water at one end and the measuring jugs at the other.
• Allow each participant to fill their first cup before starting. As there is only one water container there is an incentive to be quick as well as careful.
• Each participant should stay their side of the course (marked by a line) to maintain social distancing.
• You decide how long they get. The winner has the most water in the jug. (or you could play a team of 2 against another team of 2)
