Who we are and What we do
Our MissionTo support the morale, welfare,
and well-being of the U.S. Mission Iraq population through events, facilities, recreational activities,
and funding initiatives.
Who we areAEBEA is run and operated by the AEBEA CEO, Julie Khan, who reports directly to a local board of directors. Board members are elected by the community on an annual basis. The Association comes under the direct oversight of the Board of Directors, the Management Counselorand the office of Commissary and Recreation (CR).

What we do
• Organize, fund, and provide direct support for events, equipment purchases, gyms, sporting equipment and other activities for the Baghdad Embassy Compound, Baghdad Diplomatic Support Center and Consular General Erbil.
• Manage concession agreements from our partners to provide alternative food service options, bars, cleaning, personal care services, and retail outlets.
• Provide residential and commercial Internet services (MIRI).
Which Actually Means
AEBEA provides Funding and support for:
• Themed party nights 80’s, Halloween, Rocky Horror, Pool parties
• Raffle Prizes
• Movie Nights at the American Club (Baghdaddy’s), the outdoor pool and the chancery lawn
• Sports consumables for the gym and tennis club
• Fun Runs/Walks
• Sports Tournaments
• Musical instruments
• Sound systems for the bars and MWRs
• Premium sports channels on TV
• DVDs for sites loaner libraries
• Internet Cafés
• Arts and crafts supplies
• Custom Event T-shirts and Mugs
• Free Internet at BEC, BDSC and UNION III

AEBEA working with AFFES, have brought two worldpremiers of the last Star Wars films to the Embassy.
(IDP) Internally Displaced Kids Day. A twice yearly event, our favorite event we support.

• Movie and Audio systems – 35k
• Karaoke systems – 10k
• Navy Movie Programme – BEC,BDSC, CG ERBIL- 10K annually
• DVDs for loaner library’s – 12k annually
• BEIN Sports channels - 5k annually
• Gym consumables / equipment- 100 k
• Marine ball, yearly support – 17k for 2018
• Basra renovations 120K
• Mission Social Event budget of 360k for 2018
NOTE: AEBEA also pays rent to the Embassy for the work spaces it uses and contributes yearly to the DoS commissary and recreations department
