We begin again our walk with you through the school year –a pilgrimage of joy,a pilgrimage toward justice,a pilgrimage guided by love.May we find joy in the journeyjoy in our friendship,joy in our learning.Bless us this day, O Lord, and bless our days together.We make this prayer in the name of Jesus. Amen+

September 3

God our Creator,You desire nothing more than to enrich us with your love.Through the centuries, you shared your word with us through the Scriptures, and in the fullness of time sent your Son, to be your human Word living among us. Help us, in our reading of the scriptures, to know you more fully, and in becoming more familiar with Jesus in the Gospels,to follow his example of love in the world.We make this prayer through his Holy Spirit. Amen+

Loving God,as Jesus’ followers walked the road to Emmaus,they were confused and did not know where to turn.We often feel like this in life.We need to be reminded of the Good News brought to us in the life and model of Jesus of Nazareth.As we begin this school year,give us wisdom on our journeys.Help us to remember that we need the Good News in our lives.Give us signs to remind us that it is always about the Good News.We make this prayer in the name of Jesus, our brother and teacher.Amen+

God of resurrection joy,like the disciples on the road to Emmaus we walk together this year.You are the source of joy in our lives.As we share in Word and sacrament,let us hold on to the truth that you are always with us.You love us, you forgive us, you nourish us.Inspire us to proclaim this Good News with our witness and wordsso others may say “were not our hearts burning within us.” Amen+
