However, the church leadership and staff have been fantastic about finding ways to keep connected. While our online opportunities, personal contacts, and regular communication helps to bridge gaps, we recognize that the words we find in Hebrews remains an important com- mand for us. Online experiences can help us keep connected. They can introduce us to new people. They can provide a platform for encouragement and growth. However, transfor- mation occurs life-on-life. Our ministry of presence with one another cannot be replaced. To that end, there are some ways that we have found that we can safely be present. The staff has returned to doing most of their work in the office. While the office isn t openbecause of the difficulty of tracking individuals as they come and go, in-person tasks at the building are possible by simply letting someone in the church know that you are com- ing. Also, we have begun providing the pavilion for small group meetings and Sunday School gatherings. We ask that you schedule those meetings with the office and follow the best practices for safely gathering (face coverings, social distancing, etc.). With attendees bring- ing lawn chairs for sitting, this has worked great for groups already. In the early mornings and evenings, the pavilion is a good place to gather. Home gatherings continue to be a safe alternative as well. Some groups have had regular times of gathering in backyards or in small groups at a host home. These are valuable times that strike at the core of doing life together. The Weekday Childrens Ministry continues to be open. I cannot tell you how much of a blessing the hard work of the staff and teachers has been to families. Procedures have changed dramatically, asking much of the staff and teachers, to keep the children and par- ents safe. In the coming weeks and months, we will be testing some ideas for gathering. This will pro- vide us with good information about what we can and cant do safely. We have considered providing worship opportunities for small groups and Sunday School classes in the court- yard. These would be brief times of music with a devotional message. As that plan devel- ops, group leaders will hear more about these gatherings. Also, we are considering how to serve as a connecting point for youth in the coming aca- demic year, especially for those who are choosing online instruction. Providing internet for class work, offering safe small group gathering times, and providing the CAC for physical activity are just some of the ways that we can be helpful. Its hard to be patient. Its difficult to see what could happen and not be able to do it safely. And its hard to know the importance of gathering together and not being able to provide a safe place to do so. However, we are together in the effort, and we are grateful for that. Peace, Brian

“To Know Jesus And To Make Him Known”

Stepping Together “And let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” - Hebrews 10:24-25 Continuing to step into our mission during these days has been a challenge. However, the church leadership and staff have been fantastic about finding ways to keep connected. While our online opportunities, personal contacts, and regular communication helps to bridge gaps, we recognize that the words we find in Hebrews remains an important com-mand for us. We ask that you schedule those meetings with the office and follow the best practices for safely gathering (face coverings, social distancing, etc.). Worship Arts Notes ♫♫ Students of the arts continue to outperform their non-arts peers on

the SAT, according to reports by the College Entrance Examination

Board. SAT takers with course work or experience in music scored

60 points higher on the verbal portion and 42 points higher on the

math portion than did students with no course work or experience in

the arts. These studies also indicate that the earlier our children are

exposed to the creative arts the more dramatic the results.

So if you want to have a smarter, healthier and happier child we in-

vite you to have them join us for our upcoming Online Bible XP on

July 16, 21, 23 and 26 for Preschool at 10 a.m. and Elementary Stu-

dents at 6:00 p.m.

Music making can be especially helpful during these days. One way

to lift your spirit is to join us for a Livestream Hymn Sing on Face-

book Live on Sunday, August 9 at 6:00.

You can let us know your favorite hymns by filling out a form at this

link.

Our missionary partners Ed and Linda Baker had

hoped to travel to Paraguay, where they once

lived, for a water project this spring, but the pan-

demic stalled those plans. Instead, they are doing

water projects from their home base in Eatonton,

GA. They have been working with TMS col-

leagues in Nicaragua on a spring water collection

project in the village of Tunawaluan on the Bo-

cay River. This is the sixth water project they

have done in that area, and the teams on both the

US and Nicaraguan ends are getting pretty good

at doing them “long distance,” according to Lin-

da.

As usual, the Bakers’ ministry, which Aldersgate

supports through Faith Promise giving, provides

the funds to buy the pipe and other materials

needed while the villagers provide the labor. Ed

and Linda hope to be able to show pictures of

running “water of life” in Tunawaluan when they

come for our next GIC, currently scheduled for

September 13.

“You Are Known”

Psalm 139:1-12

1 O Lord, you have searched me and known me. 2 You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from far away. 3 You search out my path and my lying down, and are acquainted with all my ways. 4 Even before a word is on my tongue, O Lord, you know it completely. 5 You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. 6 Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain it. 7 Where can I go from your spirit? Or where can I flee from your presence?

8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there; if I make my bed in Sheol, you are there. 9 If I take the wings of the morning and settle at the farthest limits of the sea, 10 even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me fast. 11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light around me become night,” 12 even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is as bright as the day, for darkness is as light to you.
