Rawlings will be providing all the section playoff volleyballs and will be the Official Volleyball for the 2015 San Diego CIF Section Girls’ Volleyball Playoffs. 2. QUALIFYING All schools that field 2015 varsity teams will be placed into Divisions OPEN, and I through V. League Champions (not Co-Champions or Tri-Champions) shall receive automatic entry. All other teams shall be selected at-large. On October 7, 2015 The CIFSDS Board Of Mangers will vote on the following proposal that if passed will take effect immediately for the 2015 Fall playoffs. If a league champion is not seeded into the playoffs, the champion will host a play-in game versus the lowest- seeded team in that division. If more than one league champion is not seeded, the highest ranking league champion will play the lowest seeded team, the 2nd highest ranked league champion will play the 2nd lowest seeded team, etc. The play-in game will be held prior to the first round game in that sport. There will be no play-in games in the sport of football—football league champions are automatic qualifiers and are guaranteed entry into the 1st round of the playoffs. League champions will host play-in games. League champions will host 1st round games unless playing a higher seeded league champion or playing a team seeded #1-#4 or league champion has hosted a play-in game. PLAYOFF PASS The CIFSDS Playoff Pass for Girls’ Volleyball will be on sale at the CIFSDS Office. One pass is $27.00; additional passes are $22.00 (limit of 3).

1. OFFICIAL PLAYOFF VOLLEYBALL

Rawlings has graciously entered into an agreement with the San Diego Section. Rawlings will be providing all the section playoff volleyballs and will be the Official Volleyball for the 2015 San Diego CIF Section Girls’ Volleyball Playoffs.

2. QUALIFYING

All schools that field 2015 varsity teams will be placed into Divisions OPEN, and I through V. League Champions (not Co-Champions or Tri-Champions) shall receive automatic entry. All other teams shall be selected at-large.

On October 7, 2015 The CIFSDS Board Of Mangers will vote on the following proposal that if passed will take effect immediately for the 2015 Fall playoffs.

If a league champion is not seeded into the playoffs, the champion will host a play-in game versus the lowest- seeded team in that division. If more than one league champion is not seeded, the highest ranking league champion will play the lowest seeded team, the 2nd highest ranked league champion will play the 2nd lowest seeded team, etc.

The play-in game will be held prior to the first round game in that sport. There will be no play-in games in the sport of football—football league champions are automatic qualifiers and are guaranteed entry into the 1st round of the playoffs.

League champions will host play-in games. League champions will host 1st round games unless playing a higher seeded league champion or playing a team seeded #1-#4 or league champion has hosted a play-in game. This accommodation does not apply to playoffs that begin with the quarterfinal round

The following forms (CIF State Volleyball Champions School Confidential Contact Info; CIF State Volleyball Championships Team Roster/Pass List; CIF State Volleyball Season Summary Form; CIF State Volleyball Season Summary Form (Tournaments); CIF State Volleyball Season Summary Form; and CIF State Volleyball Facility Specification Form (pages 1-6 attached to coach and AD copy) must be submitted to the CIFSDS Office by 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2015 via e-mail or fax 858-292-1375, AND to the CIF State Office. Failure to do so will remove your team from consideration for the playoffs.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 21 The San Diego CIF Girls’ Volleyball Championship contests will be conducted at Cathedral Catholic High School. Starting times will be: 11:00 a.m. - Division III; 1:15 p.m. - Division II; 4:00 p.m. – Division 1; and 6:15 p.m. - OPEN. The home team is the higher seed.

5. PRE-GAME PROTOCOL AND WARM-UP PROCEDURES The following protocol and warm-up procedures may be conducted, as outlined below, at all San Diego CIF Semifinal and Championship matches. The Southern Regional and State Championship will follow a different protocol. (Refer to State CIF Advance Bulletin.) At 15 minutes prior to start of game, the visiting team will take the court for six (6) minutes; then at nine (9) minutes prior to start of game, the home team will take the court for six (6) minutes. Three (3) minutes prior to start of game will begin introductions and anthem (march-in during championship games).

6. FORMAT

The winner of each match shall be the team that wins the best three out of five games (Rally Scoring).

7. SCORER AND TIMER The home school shall provide the official scorer in each round except the Championships. As permitted by National Federation Volleyball Rules, the visiting team may maintain an assistant scorer who shall be seated on the outside of the official scorer (when provided by the home school) at the officials’ table. The home school may provide an assistant timer who shall be seated at the officials’ table on the outside of the

official timer (when provided by the visiting school). NOTE: PLEASE ADD THE POSITION OF TRACKER FOR THE LIBERO.

8. OFFICIALS

All pre-championship referees, umpires, and linespersons for the 2015 San Diego CIF Girls’ Volleyball Playoffs will be obtained and paid by the home school and assigned by Summer Vicknair and Don Biagi (Assignment Secretaries). In the event there are not sufficient numbers of officials to provide linespersons for a contest, the home school must provide linespersons, and one from each school is recommended. The names, addresses, and social security numbers for each linesperson must be submitted to the home school to enable them to be paid. The paid linesperson secured from either school cannot be members of the boys’ or girls’ volleyball teams (any level). Officials for the pre-championship rounds of playoffs shall be paid by the home school. Officials for Championship round of playoffs shall be paid by the CIFSDS Office.

9. ACCOMMODATIONS FOR OFFICIALS Coaches and Athletic Directors are asked to continue their efforts to provide professional assistance to officials who work their games. This would include meeting the officials upon arrival and escorting them to their dressing area as well as escorting them off the floor at the contest’s conclusion. School personnel other than

the head coach should be designated to stand by with a key to the official’s room, or the officials should be given a key. On-site staff should be aware of and observe the privacy of the officials’ locker room/dressing area. Thank you for your cooperation. .

10. RECOMMENDATIONS FOR PLAYOFF OFFICIALS

Coaches of teams participating in the San Diego CIF Divisional Championships First-Round wishing to have input into the selection of playoff officials, may contact Summer Vicknair or Don Biagi a list of up to 10 preferred officials and designate a list of up to 6 non-preferred officials before 12 noon, on November 3.

11. TICKETS/GAME EXPENSE LIMITS First Round, Quarterfinals, and Semifinals The home school will provide tickets. (See Green Book, CIFSD Policies and Procedures Article VII, Playoffs, pages 12-13.)

REMINDER: Schools may use the CIFSDS Pass List for complimentary entry to first round, quarterfinal, and semifinal games. Form is available on the CIFSDS web site at www.cifsds.org - FORMS. Each school is allowed ten (10) complimentary admissions. The visiting school will fax its pass list to the home school).

Finals – CIFSDS will host the finals. Ten (10) complimentary tickets will be available to each participating school and may be obtained from the CIFSDS Office.

12. ADMISSION

There are two playoff ticket ranges – Adult - Defined as anyone over 18 years old and Student/Senior = Student defined as anyone age 5 through age 18; Senior defined as anyone age 60 or over:

13. PASSES No deviation shall be permitted for the following passes: Permitted - CIFSDS Courtesy Cards, CIFSDS Playoff Passes, CIFSDS Girls’ Volleyball Playoff Scouting Cards (except for Championships), CIFSDS Media Passes, and CIFSDS Life Passes, State CIF Courtesy Cards, and State CIF Life Passes.

Not Permitted – Boys’ and Girls’ Scouting Cards, Boys’ and Girls’ Playoff Scouting Cards, league passes, district passes, faculty passes, officials’ association passes, college or university passes, etc. Bus drivers are not admitted without a ticket.

NOTE: Three (3) Girls’ Volleyball Playoff Scouting Passes will be issued to each seeded team at the pairings announcement on November 7, 2015. Passes are valid first round through semifinals (not valid for finals).

14. AWARDS

Team trophies will be awarded to the Championship and runner-up teams in Divisions I through V. Individual CIFSDS patches (20) will be given to members of the divisional championship team, and individual runner up

15. PLAYOFF PARTICIPATION PATCHES

Playoff participation patches may be purchased for $11.00 each. Orders will be accepted via the CIFSDS Home site, please visit our website at www.cifsds.org

16. RUNNER-UP & CHAMPIONSHIP PATCHES Additional Runner-up and Championship patches may be purchased for $11.00 each. Orders will be accepted via the CIFSDS Home site, please visit our website at www.cifsds.org

19. CLEAN-UP Each team shall be responsible for the clean-up of its own bench area immediately following the contest.

20. NOISEMAKERS

No noisemakers (miniature megaphones, cowbells, air horns, blocks, whistles, cannons, drums, thundersticks, etc.) of any kind will be permitted at the site of any contest. Megaphones shall be used only by uniformed cheerleaders for the purpose of directing or controlling their own rooting sections.

21. CHEERLEADERS

A maximum of 25 uniformed varsity cheerleaders representing each of the two competing schools will be admitted free of charge to all CIFSDS playoff contests.

22. NON-FOOD CONCESSION (T-SHIRTS, SWEATSHIRTS, ETC.)

The non-food concession for the 2015 Girls’ Volleyball Championships has been awarded to Kukulski Bros. If you have special ordering needs, contact David Kukulski 480-921-1975.

23. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA REGIONAL STATE VOLLEYBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

On Friday, October 9, 2015, the CIF Federated Council will vote on a proposal that if passed, will place teams competitively (by ranking) in the Southern California Regional tournament. All CIFSDS Section Champions plus two at-large teams would advance to the SOCAL regional tournament. Teams may be moved to a different division than the one in which they competed in the San Diego Section playoffs. There would be no enrollment parameters in any division and there would be no enrollment cap in division V, if passed.
