AIM: To reform and inform our children’s sense of judgment in their choice of personality they
often want to imitate.
INTRODUCTION
Ask the children to tell you who their music, football and movies heroes are, and why they are
their choices. They should be able to tell the class what they benefit from associating with those
heroes.
A HERO is someone I can look up to for his excellent achievement and I will want to associate
with or be like him. He is someone who has done an extraordinary deed. Extraordinary deeds are
the mark of a hero or heroine (for a woman).
LESSON 1: WHO IS MY HERO?
BIBLE TEXT: DANIEL 6: 1 - 28
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* It pleased Darius to set over the kingdom one hundred and twenty satraps to be over the
whole kingdom.
* And over these, three governors, of whom Daniel was one, that the satraps might give
account to them so that the king would suffer no loss.
* Then this Daniel distinguished himself above the governors and satraps because an
excellent spirit was in him.
TOPIC: MY HERO
MEMORY VERSE: HEBREWS 12:2
“Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set
before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of
the throne of God. ”
6

* And the king gave thought to setting him over the whole realm.
* So the governors and satraps sought to find some charge against Daniel concerning the
kingdom.
* But they could find no charge or fault, because he was faithful, nor was there any error or
fault found in him.
* Then these men said, we shall not find any charge against this Daniel unless we find it
against him concerning the law of his God.
* So these governors and satraps thronged before the king and said thus to him: “king
Darius, live forever!”
* All the governors of the kingdom have consulted together to establish a royal statute and
to make a firm decree, that whoever petitions any god or man for thirty days except you, O
king, shall be cast unto the den of lions.
* Therefore king Darius signed the written decree.
* Daniel prayed to God as he used to do and was thrown into the lion’s den.
* God sent His angel and shut the lion’s mouth so that they could not hurt Daniel.
* And the king gave the command and those men who accused Daniel were thrown into the
den of lions.
* The king issued a decree that all people should serve the God of Daniel.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* Jesus is our super hero. Hebrews 12: 2
* Man can fail but Jesus never fails. James 1: 17
* The hero must be perfect in trials. Daniel 6: 16, Philippians 2: 5 – 9
* Your hero must be a focused person. Isaiah 50: 7
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
You must give your life to Christ for you to have Jesus as your hero.

LESSON 2: QUALITIES OF A HERO
BIBLE TEXT: JOB 1: 1 – 12, 1: 13 - 22, 2: 7 – 8, 42: 10
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Then God said to Satan, have you considered my servant Job?
* There is no one like him on the earth.
* A blameless and upright man who fears God.
* And turns away from evil.
* Job lost all his children and his fortunes, as a result of the activities of the Satan.
* And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job.
* When he prayed for his friends.
* And the Lord gave Job twice as he had before.

* A hero must be an extraordinary person; ( it means having the spirit of Christ.) Col. 1: 27, Phil 4: 13, Judges 13: 24 – 25.
* Our heroes are close to God and receive secrets from Him. Dan.2: 28-29, Matt.4: 11, Eph. 1:9.
* Humility is found with a hero. A hero humbles himself to be able to impact his world (like Moses, Paul, Jesus etc.) Phil 2: 5 – 9, Num. 12: 3.
* Our hero must be those who imitate Jesus. 1 Cor. 11: 1, Acts 11: 26
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
* Anyone that has no Jesus will not know how best to choose a hero that will make him/her
succeed in life.
* You need Jesus to help you know the right people around you and to associate with themas your hero.
Home work to be given to the children before the third lesson.
1. List 20 heroic characters in the bible.
8
Page
8
2. Choose one that you will like to imitate.
3. Amongst all the people today, who is your hero.
LESSON 3: HOW CAN I BE LIKE MY HERO?
BIBLE TEXT: 1 KINGS 19: 19 - 21

* And he was with the twelfth.
* Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him.
* And he left his oxen and ran after Elijah and said.
* Please let me kiss my father and mother and then I will follow you.
* And he said to him, “Go back again, what have I done to you.

Page
9
* Be ready to suffer undue pains or hardship since heroism is being extraordinary or
supernatural. 1 Peter 5: 10, 2 Timothy 2: 3
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
First you must receive Jesus as your Lord and personal Saviour, then take the words of God as
your guide to heroism.
Practical Class
.a. Is it right to look up to someone else as Hero? Yes/No
b. If your hero is a successful bible character by God’s standard and, or if in this present
times he/she is a child of God, man or woman of God with Godly reputation. 1 Cor. 11: 1
c. If that seeming hero is a failure in bible characters, by God’s standard and, or if in this
present times, the person is not Godly and born again. 2 Cor. 6: 14 - 18
CONCLUSION
The criteria for choosing a hero should only be based on God’s character. Do not choose
anybody because he is looking, Fine or Rich unless they have achieved Godly excellence
because you are Godly children.

Who is a friend? A friend is someone who has love and trust for another person, in that he/she
can share his/her secrets without fear or shame, and can lay down his life for the other person.

him
* That they keep the way of the Lord, to do righteousness and justice that the Lord may
bring to Abraham what he has spoken to him

* And the Lord said, “Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and
because their sin is very grievous

against it that has come to me; and if not, I will know”
* Then the men turned away from there and went towards Sodom, but Abraham still stood
before the Lord.

AIM
The aim of this topic is to teach the children to control their behavior, so that they can obey rules
and regulations, and have respect for authority and the things of God.
Definition: Discipline is the ability to control your behavior, so that you do what is expected of
you, to do at every given time. Or Discipline is training that helps me to obey rules, develop
character and control my behavior.
Note that, the word discipline stirs up negative feeling in you. If not, you have not come to
understand it properly. Although discipline may include confrontation and even punishment at
times, it must begin with love. .
INTRODUCTION
Ask the children about something that their friend or somebody does, that really irritate them or
gets at them. Get their reaction and introduce Lesson 1.
LESSON 1: TOLERANCE AND SELF CONTROL (an Act of Discipline)

him and God said Yes, he also asked if the people will give him away to Saul and God
said Yes, and David escaped from the city to the desert.

AIM
To teach that salvation of sinners is wholly by grace that we have no righteousness or goodness
of our own wherewith to merit divine favour and acceptance and that without salvation no man
shall enter the kingdom of God.
INTRODUCTION
The word of God proves that man is important to God. He loves us and wants us to believe in
Him. John 3:16. We must guard against teaching that we can please God by some right attitude
or good deed.
LESSON 1: THE NEED FOR SALVATION
BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 3: 8 – 13, 22 – 24

when they heard the voice of God walking in the garden in the cool of the day.
* God called unto Adam and said where art thou?
* He answered; I heard your voice in the garden and was afraid because I was naked so I
hid myself.
TOPIC: SALVATION
MEMORY VERSE: ROMANS 10: 9 – 10 (NIV)
“That if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’, and believe in your heart that
God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you
believed and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. ”
21
Page
21
* Who told you that you are naked? Said God. Have you eaten of the tree I told you not to
eat?
* Adam answered, the woman you gave me to be with me gave me of the tree and I ate.
* God said to the woman what is this that you have done? She answered the serpent
deceived me and I ate.
* And God said, Man is now like one of us to know good and evil. Before he takes of the
tree of life and eats and live forever, the Lord sent him from the Garden of Eden to
cultivate the ground from where he was taken.
* So God drove out man and placed on the east side of the Garden of Eden cherubim and a
flaming sword that turned every way to keep the way of the tree of life.
* Therefore man became separated from God.
Note: Read Genesis 2: 15 – 25 and Genesis 3: 1 – end to get a full story.

INTRODUCTION
Experience they say is the best teacher. The topic above is better taught using personal
experience as teachers. When some of us were growing up, we were given the impression that
once the communion dropped on the floor or ground, especially the wine, blood would cover the
whole place. As kids then, we could not stand the sight of blood, fear was instigated in us and we
didn’t have any better choices than to handle Holy Communion with care, respect, adoration and
in clean-clear manner. Before the day one would receive the Holy Communion for the first time,
you would have under gone several preparatory classes and on that “D” Day, we were dressed in
white from head to toes signifying purity of the Holy Communion and the person. However, the
process is not so in TREM, where children are privileged to take Holy Communion without stiff
conditions and processes and we are unfortunately taking it for granted. God expects us to
conduct ourselves well enough before coming to the communion table to take of His body and
drink of His blood.
Note: The introduction above is for teachers to read and use it to explain the topic to them.
LESSON 1: WHAT IS HOLY COMMUNION AND THE ELEMENTS OF HOLY COMMUNION?
BIBLE TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 11: 23 – 26, 10: 16 - 17
Note: Before we go into the lesson mentioned above, there is need to break the compound
words in lesson one .i.e. “HOLY” and “COMMUNION” for better understanding.
Holy: means consecration, sanity, sacred, awe-inspiring .i.e. having character that evokes
reverence, sanctified i.e. feeling of deep respect, expression of honour etc.
TOPIC: HOLY COMMUNION (Reverence for the Lord’s Table)
MEMORY VERSE: 1 CORINTHIANS 11: 27- 28
“Therefore, whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy
manner will be guilty of sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. A man ought
to examine himself before he eats of the bread and drinks of the cup.”

Communion: this is a relationship that leads to communication and sharing, intimacy i.e. feeling
of emotional or spiritual closeness etc. the essence of the above definition is for everyone of us to
be able to identify the meaning of the word “Holy Communion” and see if we have accepted the
meaning into our spirits and reflect it by the way we receive the Holy Communion (i.e. by our
conducts during Holy Communion).
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Paul told the disciples what Jesus revealed to him.
* That the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed Jesus took bread, gave
thanks to God, broke it and gave to His disciples saying
* Take, eat this is my body which is broken for you
* Do this in remembrance of Me
* In the same manner, He also took the cup of wine after supper saying
* This cup is the new covenant in My blood
* Do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of Me
* For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup of wine
* You proclaim the Lord’s death and resurrection till He comes again.
ELEMENTS OF HOLY COMMUNION 1 CORINTHIANS 10: 16 - 17
* The cup of blessing (wine) which we bless is the communion of the blood of Christ.
* The bread which we break is the communion of the body of Christ.
* For we though many are one bread and body
* For we all partake of that one bread
* Cup – is the container used for communion
* Wine – signifies the blood of Jesus Christ
27
Page
27
* Bread – signifies the body of Jesus Christ
Thus, Holy Communion is the body and blood of Christ which we share using bread and
wine and must be taken with reverence to respect and honour to God.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* Holy Communion is a new covenant Jesus made and commands us to do it in
remembrance of Him
* As we take the communion we remember His second coming . 1 Cor. 11: 26
* Shows intimacy, connection and good relationship with God
* There is need to eat the communion in reverence to God, for releasing His only begotten
Son to die for us by shedding His blood on the cross.
* Communion frees us from sickness, poverty etc.
* To partake of the Lord’s Table is a privilege that must not be abused.
* Communion time is also time of worship to God not play time
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
You must not partake in something you don’t know and understand, you need to know Jesus
before you can partake of His body and blood in communion.
CONCLUSION: Appropriate preparation in partaking of the Lord’s Table helps us to respect God.
LESSON 2: TAKING HOLY COMMUNION WITH FULL UNDERSTANDING
BIBLE TEXT: 1 CORINTHIANS 11: 27 – 34
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Therefore, whoever eats this bread and drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner,
will be guilty of the Lord’s body and blood.
* But let a man examine himself, after examination
28
Page
28
* Let him eat of the bread (body)
* And drink of the cup / wine (blood)
* For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner
* Eats and drink judgment to himself
* Not discerning or understanding the Lord’s body
* For this, many are weak, sick among you
* And many are asleep (dead)
* For if we would judge ourselves, we would not be judged
* But when we are judged, we are chastised by the Lord
* That we may not be condemned with the world
* Therefore brethren, when we come together to eat, wait for one another
* But if anyone is hungry, let him eat at home
* Lest you come together for judgment
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* Before Holy Communion time, observe yourself, examine yourself and see where you
have sinned and ask for forgiveness before you partake of it otherwise you will eat to
condemnation.
* Communion should be taken in unity as one body of Christ not eating or drinking the
wine/bread before others. 1 Cor. 10: 16 – 17
* If you take communion with full understanding that it is a new covenant, you must have an
enduring experience afterwards to testify that Jesus actually asked us to do so in
remembrance of Him and assurance of His second coming.
* Need to be in prayers and if possible speak in the language of the spirit during communion
for edification and connection to God
29
Page
29
* Conduct yourself properly and responsibly at the Lord’s Table and don’t joke or pour
around the elements of communion given to you, handle them with care and fear of the
Lord
* Communion refreshes both the soul and body when taken in the right manner and causes
sickness when taken wrongly
* Communion time is a time for us to exercise our faith in our areas of need e.g. healing,
academics, financial etc.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
One of the things you cannot understand in your own is the Holy Communion unless you
understand that Jesus died for you and accept Him first before accepting communion.
CONCLUSION: Communion Table is a place of unity and not disunity.
LESSON 3: PRACTICAL CLASS (HOW TO CONDUCT OURSELVES DURING HOLY COMMUNION)
Note: There is need to arrange or organize Holy Communion to be served on the day of practical
class, the aim is to know or see if we got the message or lesson on Holy Communion.
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* You must be first born again before you think of receiving communion
* As you are led by the spirit, you can wait on the Lord (fast) before the Holy Communion
and break after the Holy Communion
* Be in prayerful mood not playing mood
* Worship God during the communion
* Respect the communion table and handle the communion elements (i.e. the wine, cup,
bread) very well with care and cleanliness
* Jesus blood which is shared and body which is broken as we share in the communion
must be taken with full knowledge and understanding of what it means to do so
30
Page
30
* Communion is taken in faith that Jesus truly died for us and He will come again the second
time, hope of eternal glory for us
* Communion is a command from Jesus (He says do this in remembrance of Him)
* Communion time is a time you must be focused and connect to God to receive something
from Him e.g. Healing, Breakthrough etc.
* Never to pour or break the bread all around, asking your friends to taste your own and
mess the whole place up with the Holy Communion which is meant to bless you
* Don’t attract curse by the way you handle the communion at the Lord’s Table
* We must not spite Him the second time by the way we conduct ourselves during
communion, we should speak to Him during the communion time and He is faithful to hear
us.
CONCLUSION: Handle the communion with care, reverence and you will surely testify in
Jesus name, Amen.

AIM
To let us know that we’ve already overcome the world so there is no need to fear. 1 John 4: 4
Definition: Fear means unpleasant sensation caused by nearness of danger or pain (to be afraid).
INTRODUCTION: What makes us to be afraid?
- The Devil
- Danger:- likelihood of harm or death e.g. car accident, failing school exams and test and repeating a class, Robbery attack,
- The fear of death in the wilderness for the Israelites by the Egyptians
- The threat of the Egyptians catching up with the Israelites when they fled Egypt. (In our daily life threatening circumstances e.g. fire outbreak, riots etc.
- Wrong doing and the consequences of it (teachers let the children give examples) e.g. stealing, lying, disobedience to parents, teachers and other older ones.
- The Egyptians were pursuing the Israelites without cause or reason. Only cause being that they wanted them to continue to serve them as their slaves.
LESSON 1: WHAT IS FEAR?
BIBLE TEXT: EXODUS 14: 1 – 31
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* God instructed Moses to lead the children of Israel out of Egypt to the Promised Land.
* And as they journeyed He instructed Moses that they should camp before Pi-hahiroth
between Migdol and the sea over against Baal-zephon.
* God did it deliberately so as to harden Pharaoh’s heart and that he will follow them and
TOPIC: OVERCOMING FEAR
MEMORY VERSE: 2 TIMOTHY 1: 7
“For God did not give us the spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self discipline”.

God will be honoured after He has dealt with Pharaoh and his soldiers.
* Pharaoh and his men came after the children of Israel. All the horses and chariots of
Pharaoh, his horse men, his army over took their camping by the sea beside Phi-hahiroth
before baal-zephon.
* And when Pharaoh drew nigh, the children of Israel lifted up their eyes and behold the
Egyptians marched after them
* They were so afraid and the children of Israel cried out unto the Lord.
* They blamed Moses for leading them out of Egypt to die in the wilderness and wished they
were left in Egypt, than to die in the wilderness.
* Moses said unto them, “fear ye not, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord which He
shall show to you today for ye shall see them again no more forever”.
* God said unto Moses, “lift up your rod and stretch out your hand over the sea and divide it
and the children of Israel shall go on ‘dry ground’ through the midst of the sea”.
* God used the pillar of cloud to separate the camp of the Israelites from the Egyptians and
it appeared as cloud and darkness to the Egyptians so that the one came not near the
other all the night.
* And Moses stretched out his hands over the sea and caused it to go back by a strong East
wind fall that night and made the sea dry land and the water divided.
* And the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea upon the dry ground and the
waters were a wall unto them on their right hand, and on their left.
* And the Egyptians pursued and went in after them to the midst of the sea, even all
Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots and his horsemen
* God troubled the Egyptians in the midst of the sea and took off their chariot wheels and
they were afraid
* God commanded Moses to stretch his hand over the sea and the sea returned to his
strength when the morning appeared and over threw the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
33

33
* Thus, the Lord saved Israel out of the hands of the Egyptians and they feared the Lord
and believed him and Moses.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
God will surely save you and give His Angels charge over you. Ps. 91: 11
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
If Jesus is not Lord and Saviour of your life, you will constantly be in fear both real and imagined
because the devil will have full opportunity to fill your mind with all kinds of things. Also, you
cannot be assured of the deliverance of God in time of danger.
LESSON 2: HOW TO DEAL WITH FEAR?
Fear is of the devil and we can only overcome it through the word of God and because Jesus
overcame the devil and is the word. John 1: 1 - 5.
a. Hide the word in your heart by meditating on it to drive away imagination of the devil. Ps 119: 11
b. Confess aloud the word and speak it to yourself
c. Pray always. 1 Thess 5: 17
d. Watch good films and cartons, read good books, tell good stories i.e. watch what you see,
read talk and think. Phil 4: 18
e. Remind yourself of God’s promises of protection and safety. Ps 27: 1 – 3, Ps. 23
f. Make effort not to be afraid be determined not to fear. Ps. 91: 1 – 5
CONSEQUENCES OF FEAR
1. Anxiety e.g. Saul (teachers tell the story briefly about him and the witch of Endor) bringing
up Samuel spirit and also sacrificing instead of Samuel. 1 Samuel 28
2. You can fall sick e.g. Saul
3. You can even run into danger or harm and even lose your life (die)
34
Page
34
4. All the fearful and liars will find themselves ending up in hell fire. Revelation 21: 8
5. It can lead to abnormal behavior
6. Fear can lead to distrust, separation from loved ones etc. 1 John 4: 18
7. Bad dreams, nightmares etc.
8. It can lead you to seek help where there is no help e.g. Saul at Endor. 1 Samuel 28
(teachers refer to story earlier told).
LESSON 3: COURAGE IN GOD TAKES AWAY FEAR?
BIBLE TEXT: JUDGES 6: 11 - 16, 7 – 15
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* An angel of the Lord appeared unto Gideon in Ophrah where he threshed wheat by the
winepress to hide it from the Midianites.
* The Angel of the Lord said to Gideon “The Lord is with thee thou mighty man of valour”.
* Gideon responded: Oh my Lord if the Lord be with us why then is all this befallen us and
where be all his miracles which our fathers told us how He brought them out of Egypt but
now the Lord hath forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.
* And the Lord looked upon him and said go in this thy might and thou shall save Israel from
the hand of the Midianites have not I sent thee.
* Gideon was afraid and lacked confidence because his family was poor in Manasseh and
he was the last in his fathers house.
* And the Lord said unto him surely I will be with thee and thou shall smite the midianites as
one man.
* Then (Gideon) and all the people that were with him rose up early and pitched beside the
well of Harod so that the host of the Midianites were on the North side of them by the hill of
Morch in the valley.
35
Page
35
* The Lord told Gideon that the people with him were too many, so that Israel would not be
proud and say they saved themselves, God told Gideon to test the people to know those
who were fearful and afraid so they would return back and 22,000 returned, only 10,000
remained
* And the Lord said the people were still too many that Gideon should bring them down to
the water to try them
* So Gideon brought the people down to the water and the Lord said everyone that lappet of
the water with his tongue as a dog you will keep to one side and everyone that bows down
upon his knees to drink you will set a part.
* Those that lapped putting their hand to their mouth were 300 men but all the rest bowed
down upon their knees to drink
* And the Lord said unto Gideon by the 300men that lapped will I save you and deliver the
Midianites into thine hand and let all the other people everyman unto his place.
* So the people took victuals in their hand and their trumpets and he sent all the rest of
Israel everyman unto his tent and retained those 300men and the host of Midians was
beneath him in the valley
* The same night the Lord told Gideon to arise and get down to the host.
* Then he arose with Phurah his servant unto the outside of the armed men that were in the
host
* The Midianites and Amalekites and all the children of the East lay along on the valley like
grasshoppers for multitude and their camels were without number as the sand by the sea
side for multitudes.
* Gideon overheard a man telling a dream to his fellow that he dreamt that a cake of barley
bread tumbled unto the host of Midian and came unto a tent and smote it that It fell and
overturned it that the tent lay along. His fellow said this is the sword of Gideon and that
God has delivered Midian and the entire host to them
* Gideon worshipped and returned to the host of Israel when he heard the dream and the
interpretation that God has delivered Midian into their hand.

36
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* We can sometimes be afraid of certain things but it might be that God has already
prepared the victory for us.
* Gideon had power but did not know it. He was hiding until God spoke to him.
* God once again reassured him of victory through a dream one of the soldiers. In the
enemy’s camp had
* God cannot allow us face any situation without being with us in it. He will always speak to
make us overcome our fear but, we must listen so we can hear Him
* God understands our fears no matter how little; or great it may be (teachers ask the
children to tell you the things they are afraid of) respond with God’s word in 2 Timothy 1: 7,
Isaiah 41: 10
* The fearful and liars will be cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 21: 8(teachers explain to
the saved child that fear can lead us into eternal destruction).
* The enemy is already afraid of you (teachers ask the children who their enemy is). Isaiah
54: 17
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
Fear and torment are from the devil and if you have not become Born Again, the devil is in control
of your life therefore, fear and torment of fear are what you will have.

AIM: To make the children:-
i. Know God has a desire for them; ii. Believe that God’s desire for them is good
iii. Find out God’s will for their lives so that no one can deceive them
INTRODUCTION
As a child, would you believe that your father or mother wished that you failed an exam, even if
someone told you so?
LESSON 1: GOD IS GOOD
BIBLE TEXT: GENESIS 39: 1 – 6, 20 – 23
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Joseph was brought to Egypt by the Ishmaelite and sold him to Portiphar, captain of
Pharaohs guard.
* And the Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered in his master’s house. His master saw
that God was with him and blessed all that he did.
* Then his master made him, Joseph, overseer of the house and all that the master had.
* From then on the Lord blessed all that Joseph’s master had, because of Joseph.
* And Joseph was in charge of all his master had
* After he had been lied against, his master put him in the prison where the king’s prisoners
were.
TOPIC: KNOWING GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE
MEMORY VERSE: JEREMIAH 29:11
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper and not to
harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ”
38
Page
38
* But the Lord was still with Joseph and gave him all favour with the prison keeper.
* The keeper soon handed over all the prisoners into Joseph’s care and did not bother
about anything, because the Lord was with Joseph. All that Joseph did, the Lord made it
prosper.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* God is good to His children all the time
* Wherever we find ourselves, we must believe that God is there and will do us good
* Even when people’s behaviour changes towards us, God remains faithful and kind to us.
* All men will know that God is good to you.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
God shows His goodness to unbelievers by first saving them (2 Peter 3:9)
LESSON 2: HOW DO I KNOW GOD’S WILL FOR MY LIFE?
(Teachers relate God’s desire for our lives to God’s unchanging nature of Goodness)
BIBLE TEXT: 1 SAMUEL 30: 1 -9, 18 - 19
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* One day, David and his men returned to Ziklag to find-out that the Amalekites had invaded

and daughters
39
Page
39
* But, David strengthened himself in the Lord
* He asked the priest Abiathar to bring the ephod
(Note: Teachers, the ephod can be equated to the word of God and the Holy Spirit in those
days).
* Abiathar brought it to David, then David asked the Lord; “shall I pursue after this troop?
Shall I over take them?”
* God answered him; “pursue, for you shall surely overtake and without fail recover all.
* David and four hundred men pursued the Amalekites. And he recovered all that was
stolen, even his wives.
* Nothing was missing, neither small nor great, sons nor daughters, he recovered all.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* God’s will, which is His word, can never fail (Mathew 5: 18)
* When you know God’s will, you have confidence to face any challenge.
* Doing God’s will is more important than knowing it. i.e. when you get blessed. (James 1: 23 – 25)
* You can only know God’s will when you read His word and listen to His voice.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
You can never know God’s will for your life until you become born-again.

42
* Any one who heard the disciples heard Jesus and anyone who despised the disciples
despised Jesus.
* The seventy returned with joy that the devils were subjected to them.
* Jesus said, He saw Satan fall from heaven and that all power had been given to the disciples
over all the power of the enemy and nothing could hurt them.
* Jesus wanted the disciples to rejoice that their names were written in heaven.

found his own brother Simon Peter and said to him, we have found the Messiah and
brought him to Jesus.
* The next day, Jesus went to Galilee and found Philip and called him.
* Philip also went and found Nathaniel and said to him, we have found Christ Jesus of
Nazareth.
* Nathaniel said, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth”.
* Philip said unto him, “Come and see” and brought him to Jesus.
* When Nathaniel heard Jesus, he declared that Jesus wss Christ, the son of God”.

AIM To teach the children:-
1. The reason and importance of tithing.
2. The importance of worshipping God with our offering and that we determine what and how
we receive from God by our offering.
INTRODUCTION
Two friends, Tony and Ben went to pluck or pick oranges from the orange tree in their
neighbourhood. Tony, who can climb the tree went up and plucked down many oranges, while
Ben who can not climb gathered them together into a bag.
When Tony came down for them to share the oranges, Ben refused saying the whole oranges
belonged to him because he gathered them. What will happen to their friendship? (Teachers,
allow the children to respond, then introduce the lesson).
LESSON 1: WHY SHOULD I TITHE?
Definition: Tithing is giving one tenth (one over ten) of every money (income or monetary gift)
that comes our way back to God.
BIBLE TEXT: MALACHI 3: 6 - 12
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Tithe and offering belong to God. Malachi 3: 8. When we defraud God from not giving our
tithes, we are breaking a covenant agreement with God and robbing God of what rightly
belongs to Him.
TOPIC: TITHES AND OFFERING
MEMORY VERSE: MALACHI 3: 10
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that they may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it”.
46
Page
46
* Robbing God of tithes and offering brings a curse. Malachi 3: 9. The bible declared that
any nation (including Nigeria) who robbed God of tithe and offering will be cursed with a
curse. In order not to be under a curse, always give God your tithes and offerings.
* Tithing is a command from God. Malachi 3: 10a. when God gives a command He expects
us as good children of God to obey it.
* The purpose of tithe is to support the church and the work of God. Malachi 3: 10. The
Church of God has so many needs that we need money to do. (Teachers, let the children
give you examples e.g. building, electricity, water, musical equipment, welfare of members
like back to school, Pastor’s needs etc).
* Tithing brings rewards. Malachi 3: 10 – 12.
- Meat in God’s house. Money to carry on God’s work.
- Opening of the windows of heaven to pour out a great blessing to tithers.
- Rebuking the devourers (i.e. sickness, diseases, failure, loss of money etc) for the
sake of the thither.
- People will see the glory of God upon you.
- It also demonstrates (shows) our love for God. when you love your friends you will
want to share with them and give them gifts.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
God wants you first, before your tithes. Therefore, give Him your life today by accepting Jesus as your Lord and personal savior.
LESSON 2: WORSHIPPING GOD WITH MY OFFERING
Definition: Offering is that which I freely give to God from my heart, beyond my tithes as an
expression of my love and thankfulness.
BIBLE TEXT: EXODUS 35: 1 - 29

SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* The Lord commanded the congregation of the children of Israel through Moses that any
one who is willing should bring an offering unto the Lord.
* They are to bring an offering of gold, silver, brass and many other things that will be used
in the tabernacle (church).
* Those with wise heart among them should come and make the things that the Lord has
commanded for His tabernacle when all the congregation of the children of Israel departed
from Moses, all those with willing heart brought an offering unto the Lord for the works of
the tabernacle.
* Both men and women brought bracelets, earrings, rings and other precious things from all
manner of work, which the Lord had commanded to be made by the hand of Moses for the
tabernacle.
* The children of Israel brought so much free will offerings that the worked asked Moses to
stop them because they had more than enough for all works of the tabernacle.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* God wants us to give our offering willingly not grudgingly. Exodus 35: 4 -5, 2 Cor. 9: 7.
* We must give offering as an act of worship to show our love and thankfulness to God.
* We must also give in order to receive from God. Luke 6: 38.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
God wants you to willingly give Him your heart by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour today.
LESSON 3: WHY IS IT THAT PEOPLE DON’T LIKE TO GIVETHEIR TITHES & OFFERINGS
Teachers, note that this is a practical discussion class, so allow the children to suggest the
possible reasons.
The following are some possible reasons:
1. Greed: some people don’t like to give out anything.
48
Page
48
2. My Money is too small. It is not even enough for my needs.
3. The money is too small for God. I will give when I have plenty money to give.
4. I am not working.
5. Devil’s deception.
6. It is Old Testament Covenant
7. Lack of knowledge about the rewards of tithes and offerings.
8. The Pastor will eat my money
CONSEQUENCES OF NOT GIVING TITHES AND OFFERING
a. The devourer will attack you.
b. You will be living in disobedience
c. You’re living under a curse
d. You are stopping or hindering the work of God.

AIM
To let the children understand the importance of praying and fasting in the life of believers.
Annual fasting and prayer period of TREM is October. Praying and fasting requires discipline and
it helps us to be closer to God and hear from Him. The benefit of fasting and prayer is God’s
quick answer to our prayers.
INTRODUCTION
Your school is organizing end of term party and all of you have been asked to wear your
traditional dress and also contribute five hundred naira for the party. Tell me what will you do
especially if it is about two days to the programme and you have been telling your parents, in the
past two weeks about the party? Let the children give an answer and then let them know that
how they persisted with their parents to provide for them is the same way we need to pray to God
about things we want him to do for us.
LESSON 1: POWER OF FASTING AND PRAYER
BIBLE TEXT: ESTHER 4: 1 – 17, 5: 1 - 3
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Haman an Agagite, the enemy of the Jews, Israelites had deceived the great King
Ahasuerus, who was the ruler of 127 provinces from India to Ethiopia to sign a decree or
edict (law) for the Jews in his kingdom to be destroyed. The king who did not know the
motive agreed to this based on a promise from Haman that he will pay money into the
king’s treasury.
* When the law was passed, all the Jews became very unhappy including Mordecai who
was Queen Esther’s, (the king’s wife) uncle. The symbol of grief in those days was to wear
mourning clothes. E.g. when a person dies, people wear black

* Initially, Esther did not know about the law until she heard that her uncle Mordecai was
mourning by wearing sack clothes. She sent her servant Hatach to give him nice clothes
instead of the mourning clothes he was wearing, which he did not accept.
* She decided to send her servant to find out the reason why Mordecai was wearing
mourning clothes. Mordecai told Hatach that Haman had planned evil against the children
of Israel to destroy them, the amount of money he was going to give the king and the copy
of the law that has been signed. He asked Esther to appeal to the king for the Jews so that
they would not be killed.
* When Hatach told Esther the message from Mordecai, she sent back to him to tell him that
she could not go to the king without an invitation from him. The rule was anyone, man or
woman including herself who broke this law, the punishment was death unless the king
stretches his golden scepter to the person. Esther informed Mordecai that even she as the
queen had not been invited to see the king for a month now.
* When she got the message, Esther made up her mind to go to the King even if it would
cost her life. She told her servant to tell Mordecai to gather the Jews in Shushan the
capital of the kingdom to fast and pray for her three days, without food and she too would
fast and pray and afterward would go to the king
* After completing the 3 days fasting and praying, Esther dressed up nicely in her best
clothes and went to the kings palace. Immediately, the king saw her, he stretched out his
golden scepter inviting her to come before him. He even promised to give her whatever
she wanted even if it was half of his kingdom.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* We can overcome sin and every difficulty in our lives by praying and fasting about it. When
the Jews received the news about the law to kill and destroy them, they were crying and
crying, but did not take time to pray for a solution to their problem.
* When fasting, we should not just deprive ourselves of food, but we should spend time
praying and talking to God about our lives and needs
* God is our Father and He listens to our prayers and answers them. God turned around the
situation of Esther and granted her favour with the king.
51
Page
51
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
You cannot pray and fast because the prayer of a sinner is an abomination to God.
CONCLUSION
Only the children of God who wait on God in praying and fasting are victorious Christians. They
have power over the devil and all his plans and can use prayer to turn around difficult situations
in their lives.
LESSON 2: THE POWER OF FASTING AND PRAYING TOGETHER
(October fast in TREM)
BIBLE TEXT: II CHRONICLES 20: 1 – 25
The month of October is a time of fasting and prayer in all TREM churches around the world. The man of God has set aside this month for TREMITES to wait on God for various needs in their lives.
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* At time when Jehoshaphat was king in Judah, three countries gathered to fight a battle
against his country. When Jehoshaphat was informed of their plans and that they were
already advancing towards his country, he became scared and decided to fast and pray to
God about it.
* Jehoshaphat made a national broadcast that everyone in Judah should fast. So all the
people of Judah from every state came together to pray and ask God to deliver them from
the nations of Moab, Ammon and from Mount Seir who were planning war against them.
* Jehoshaphat led the prayers in the house of God reminding God that He was most
powerful and the Ruler over all the kingdoms of the earth. He reminded God of testimonies
of great things God had done in the past for their forefathers, and how God promised to
deliver them in the time of trouble by hearing and answering their prayers.
* He told God that they had not done evil against these nations that came to fight them,
even when they came out of Egypt and fought other nations, but now these countries were
52
Page
52
threatening them. Jehoshaphat told God that he needed His help and cannot win the battle
against these three nations without God helping him.
* During the fasting and prayers, all the people of Judah were there with him praying and
fasting including babies, mothers, wives and children. They joined Jehoshaphat the king to
fast and pray to God for deliverance.
* God heard their prayers and assured them of His deliverance through Jehaziel, a man of
God, who was a Levite. God promised to fight the battles for them and told then not to be
afraid.
* He directed them to go to battle the next day against their enemies, the Moabites,
Ammonites, and the children of Mount Seir and His presence would be with them.
* When Jehoshaphat and the children of Judah heard the word of God, they bowed down
and worshipped. The next day, they got up early and continued in praises and singing to
God as they prepared to face their enemies in battle.
* Jehoshaphat encouraged his people that they should have faith in God and His prophet
and the promise of victory from God would surely come to pass
* As Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah continued to worship and praise God for
answering their prayers, God caused their enemy nations to begin to fight each other until
they killed themselves
* By the time Jehoshaphat and the people arrived to where their enemies were, all of them
were already dead. They also found treasures on them like Gold, Diamonds and Silver. It
was so much that it took three days to gather the treasures from their dead enemies.
Afterward, they gathered to thank God for what he had done to their enemies.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* It is important for us as children of God to obey our parents, elders, seniors, teachers in
church and school and our pastors. The October fast is an instruction from the man of
God. (2 Chronicles 20: 3) it is for our own good.
* God honours the prayer of agreement among His children. Mathew. 18: 19 – 20
53
Page
53
* We should learn to pray to God about everything no matter how small or big our
challenges. Pray when you wake up, are about to eat and before you sleep. Do not be
afraid of anything, not even the dark or bad dreams. All these will disappear when we
pray. Ps. 5: 1 – 3
* God answers the prayer of His children. Ps. 67: 19 – 20. He wants even children to pray
and fast. 2 Chronicles 20: 13
* When we fast and pray, we should spend enough time to worship God. The children of
Judah were worshipping and praising God when their enemies were destroyed.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
God cannot answer the prayers of anyone who is not born again because he or she is a sinner. It
is only by accepting Jesus that our sins can be washed away by the precious blood of Jesus.
Ps. 66: 18
LESSON 3: HOW TO WAIT ON GOD (PRAYER)
BIBLE TEXT: MATHEW 6: 6 - 18
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Jesus was a great teacher. He taught the people of his time about the principles of fasting
and prayer. That we should pray in private to our God and He will answer our prayers.
* Pray in faith, not repeating the same prayers as if God cannot hear us. It is not how loud
and prayerful we are, but how we trust God and believe His word when we pray.
* Pray with the understanding that God is our Father. He cares for us and knows our need.
* The first thing in praying to God is to worship Him. Just like Jesus taught us in the Bible
“Our Father, who is in Heaven, hallowed be your Name”.
* We must always pray according to God’s will. Thy kingdom come, as it is in Heaven. Find
out the promises of about the prayer point you are making by reading your bible,
memorizing and thinking about the scripture and then use these promises in the bible to
pray for your needs.
54
Page
54
* Ask God to forgive your sins. But first, you must forgive anyone that has offended you;
otherwise God will not answer your prayers.
* Pray to live a life free of sin. Pray to have the strength to overcome every temptation and
evil that come your way.
* Conclude your prayer with thanksgiving and praises to God for answered prayers.
* Do not let people know you are fasting by complaining and looking sad because you are
fasting.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
The only prayer of a sinner that God answers is the prayer of salvation. Accept Jesus Christ
today as your Lord and Saviour.
55

55
AIM
1. To encourage us of the need to put absolute faith in God through His son Jesus Christ
instead of in physical things and material possessions.
2. To learn how we can develop confidence in God.
3. To provide the alternative to living in fear, doubt and worry
INTRODUCTION
Frank and Femi are in the same class in Sunday school. Both have mothers who love the Lord
very much and enjoy attending church services. However, the fathers of both boys have lost their
jobs and the boys are very unhappy about this. To deal with his pain, Frank lies in bed almost
every night crying. However, before Femi sleeps at night, he kneels by his bed and prays for his
father. It’s been ten months now and no noticeable and positive changes yet. Frank still cries
about it while Femi still prays and believes.
Which of the two boys is showing confidence in God?
LESSON 1: LOOKING UNTO JESUS
BIBLE TEXT: MATHEW 14: 25 - 32
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Jesus sent his disciples ahead of him in a ship to go to the other side. This was after He
had fed the 5,000 men and women and children.
* He then went up to a mountain to pray until about the evening time
TOPIC: CONFIDENCE IN GOD (FAITH)
MEMORY VERSE: HEBREWS 11: 6
“And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him”.
56
Page
56
* By this time, the ship was in the midst of the sea, tossed by the violent waves
* After a while, Jesus began walking towards them. He walked on the sea
* When the disciples saw Him, they cried out in fear, saying that it was a spirit
* Jesus then spoke out to them saying “Be of good cheer, it is I; be not afraid”
* Then Peter replied Him saying, “Lord, if it is you, allow me come unto you on the water”
* Jesus told him to come and Peter came out of the ship and walked on the water towards
Jesus
* But when he noticed the violent waves, he was afraid and began to sink
* At this moment, he cried out to Jesus, “Lord, save me”
* Immediately, Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said to him, “O ye of little
faith, why did you doubt?”
* When they both entered the ship, the violent wind ceased and the waves of the sea
became calm.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* In the difficulties we experience in life, God is always there with us. We need to believe in
the authority and power of Jesus. Matt. 14: 25, 28 – 29
* Believe God when faced with impossible situations. Luke 1: 37
* Looking unto Jesus means depending on Him, trusting and focusing on God’s word, His
power and who God is.
We look unto Jesus by – praising God, studying God’s word regularly to find out His
promises for our situation, praying regularly which is communicating with God. Daniel 6:
10, Acts 16: 24 - 26
* Like Peter, when our faith becomes weak, we should remember that Jesus Christ is the
only one who can really help. If we doubt we will lose hope and sink in life’s difficulties.
Matt 14: 30 – 31
57

57
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
Receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and personal Saviour. Get into a personal relationship with
Him because He can never fail you.
LESSON 2: TRUST GOD UNTIL YOU GET YOUR VICTORY
BIBLE TEXT: LUKE 18: 1 - 8
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Jesus told a parable to teach the lesson that we should always pray and not give up
* The parable was that, in a city, there was a judge that did not fear God and man
* A widow who lived in that city came to the judge and asked him to give her justice from
those who had hurt her
* For a while, the king did nothing to solve her problem because he did not have any regard
for God or even man
* Then one day, he considered in his heart that even though he had no regard for God and
man, but because this widow kept coming to him, he would grant her heart’s desires
* Jesus concluded by saying we should observe the behavior of the unjust judge
* Jesus asked that would God not fight for His own people and grant their desires even as
they cry to him day and night; even though He bears long with them
* He answered and said that God would avenge His people speedily (quickly). He then
asked them, when the son of Man (Jesus Christ) comes, shall He find faith on the earth.
Will there still be people believing and trusting God?
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* To persist in prayer until the answer comes means to keep our requests constantly before
God as we live for him day by day, always believing He would answer. Heb. 10: 36
58
Page
58
* We should not give up. When there are delays even while we truthfully serve God, these
delays are always for good reasons. Habk. 2:3
* As we continue in faith, we grow in character, patience and hope. Heb. 10: 35 – 36
* God’s timing is always perfect and to our advantage even though we do not understand it.
Eccl. 3: 11& 12, Ps. 31: 15
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
You need to be born again in order to come into this relationship of absolute trust in our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
LESSON 3: WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO LIVE IN FAITH
Let’s look at the lives of men and women in the bible who lived a life of great faith in God. From
this, we can pick out reasons why it matters to live in faith.
i. Abraham: God made a promise to him that he would be the father of many nations.
Though he had no child, he did not dwell on the old age of himself and his wife. Instead he
looked up to God, obeyed Him and waited for God to fulfill His word. Whatever He has
said, He is well able to do. Deut. 7:9.
ii. Job: He had no explanation for the sudden problems that came upon his life and family.
His friends mocked him, his wife asked him to curse God and die. But Job chose to have
faith in God and be patient. God gave him the victory; God is good and has good
thoughts/plans for His people. Jeremiah 29: 11
iii. Hannah: she had no children for a long while but instead of giving up hope and retaliating
against Peninnah who mocked her continually, Hannah prayed. It is difficult to pray in faith
when we feel so ineffective. But prayer opens the way for God to work. 1 Sam. 1: 6 – 7, 10
& 12
iv. Esther: A wicked plot was made by Haman to kill the Jews. Esther as the queen had to
see the king in her plot to prevent this. Her faith is seen in her request to the Jews to fast
and pray for three days before she went to the king. Esther received God’s favour from the
59
Page
59
king and the Jews were saved. When we pray in faith, the Holy Spirit gives us direction for
what next to do. Esther 5: 1 – 2
CONCLUSION
Even in the midst of difficulties, we should continue to build our relationship with God, bring our
requests to him, be ready to receive His direction and trust Him to bring us into our victory.
60

60
AIM:
i. That the children will have their faith in Jesus Christ, strengthened as they discover
more of who He is as they celebrate Him.
ii. To present a gospel challenge to those who have not made a personal commitment
of their lives to Christ.
INTRODUCTION
(Note: You may want to write some of your ‘I am’ descriptions on a black board or paper).
If you did not know me I could introduce myself to you in many different ways. I could say
to you ‘I Am a wife (husband), because I am married and live at home with my husband
(wife)’. Or I could say to you, ‘I Am a mother (father) because I have ( ) children at home.
I could say ‘I Am a Sunday School Teacher, because every Sunday morning I come along
here and teach you about God’s ways. Or I could say, ‘I Am a follower of Jesus because a
number of years ago now I decided that I wanted Jesus to be part of my life and to follow
Him.
These are different ways I could describe myself, I suppose I could go on and say ‘I am
myself, I suppose I could say ‘I am this and that’ and tell you other things about me. (Add
one or two other descriptions of yourself). Each of these descriptions only tells you one
thing about me, but the more things I describe about who I am, the better you get to know
me. And it is the same with Jesus, if you want to know Him well; you need to describe
Him in many different ways.
Did you know that in the visible Jesus is given one hundred different names? All those
names describe different things about Jesus and about who He is.
TOPIC: WHO JESUS ISMEMORY VERSE: ISAIAH 9:6“For to us a Child is born, to us a Son is given, and the Government will be on his Shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. ”

LESSON 1: JESUS IS THE CREATOR
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 1: 1 - 3, 1 CORINTHIANS 8: 6, HEBREWS 1: 2, COLOSSIANS 1: 16
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* In the beginning God created heaven and earth.
* So, while God the Father was doing that, His Son, Jesus was right there with Him. In fact,
there is another verse that says, ‘nothing was made without Jesus, all things were created
by Him’.
* So Jesus was there creating the world, the sun, the moon, the stars and everything else. It
did not all happen just by chance, God was there arranging it all.
* So if I was to talk about Jesus being the creator, what would that tell me about Him? It
would tell me that He is really powerful. If He can do all that, He is certainly powerful.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* This tells us that He is dependable
* He can change your lifestyle
* He can do all things
* He is in control
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE UNSAVED CHILD
He can change your life if you surrender to Him completely.
Assignment: Write out 20 other ways Jesus is being described in the Bible with their Bible
Verses.
LESSON 2: JESUS ‘I AM THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD’
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 8: 12, 12: 35 – 36, 14: 9 – 11
INTRODUCTION: Can somebody tell you the importance of light? What do you think will happen if there is no light (get their response).
62
Page
62
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Jesus once said in describing Himself “I Am the Light of the World” now can somebody tell me, why do you switch a light on in a room (get response).
* Yes, because it is declared you want the darkness to go away. As soon as you turn the light switch on; the darkness is gone, when you are in the darkness you cannot see but when you are in the light you can see
* Jesus was talking about people who do not know God and saying they are in spiritual darkness because they do not see and know God wants them to live.
* Jesus said: “I Am the light of the world and who ever follow me, will never walk in darkness “what does this mean”?
* It means that if we look carefully at what Jesus is like, we will see and know what God is like. Jesus told those people around Him that He was showing them what His father God was like and showing them how to follow His ways.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION TO THE SAVED CHILD
* You can shine in your world of darkness
* Jesus is counting on you to show your world who He is by the way you live your life.
* You have to be different. Do not compromise for there is no relationship between light and darkness
Assignment: How would you yourself describe Jesus?.
LESSON 3: JESUS “I AM THE BREAD OF LIFE
BIBLE TEXT: JOHN 6: 26 – 35, 48 - 58
SEQUENCE OF EVENT
* Jesus said, “I Am the bread of life”. What did He mean by this? Well, in those days people ate bread as their main food, bread for breakfast, lunch and the evening meal. They ate other things too; fruit, cheese, vegetables and meat, but bread was their main food.
* Of course, most children rice is their main food and they do not feel happy unless they have had rice for breakfast, rice for lunch and dinner.
* When Jesus said “I Am the Bread of Life, “He was not really meaning “I am going to feed you and satisfy the hunger in your body,” (although He does that too). He was really meaning that inside every person, there is a hunger for happiness.
63
Page
63
* Everyone wants to be happy and feel good. We are all hungry for that Jesus was really saying, ‘I will feed that hunger’.
* Many people today look for other things to make them happy inside. Some times adults think that if only they could have a bigger house or own a vehicle that would really make them happy.
* When they get the now house or vehicle they enjoy it but after a while they usually find it still does not make them feel happy inside.
* Some of you think, “If only I could watch television whenever I wanted to, that would make me happy. I would not have mummy saying ‘come or do your home work or it is time to eat, or it is time to go to bed or it is time to go to school…
* Then the holidays come and you sit in front of the television for three whole days in a row. But after three days you get bored and think. “That does not really make me happy and you look for something else.
* Sometimes we think, ‘if only I could be popular, and if only everybody really liked me and thought I was great, that would make me happy inside’.
* But you know, even people that are very popular still find that does not make them reallyhappy.
* Jesus was meaning, ‘when you are hungry for happiness, I can satisfy you, I can make you feel really good inside and good about life. “That is what He meant by saying He was the Bread of Life.
* As we celebrate Christmas what do you think can make you happy? Is it food, clothes you wear or places you will go. No without Jesus you will still not be satisfy.
* Do not celebrate Christmas without the celebrant. Jesus is the celebrant make sure you have Him as your Lord and personal saviour . He came because of you. Give your heart to Him and tell others about Him.
LESSON 4: JESUS IS THE KING OF KINGS
BIBLE TEXT: 1TIMOTHY 6: 15, REVELATION 7: 14 & 19: 16
* Jesus is the King of Kings means that He is in charge of everything
* But let us think for a moment about down here on earth. Who do you think is the most powerful person in this world today? (get response)
* I think probably the President in the United States is the most powerful man in the world today because he is in charge of the most powerful countries.
64
Page
64
* But, this power is just tiny compared to the power of Jesus. Of course, Jesus is not actually king over any country in the world but over people’s individual lives.
* So when I said a few years ago, “Jesus, I want to follow you”. I was really saying, Jesus, I want you to be my king. I want you to be in charge of my life”.
* You see, He is a good leader, He does not make mistakes, so I can trust Him to lead me and guide me in just the right way.
* Today, people who follow Jesus are really saying “Jesus, I want you to be in charge of me. I want you to be like a light to me. Jesus to show me what to do in life.
CONCLUSION: As you go into the New Year, allow Jesus to lead and direct your life, let Him rule your life.
