To access the databases needed, find a computer and start here: http://www.library.csus.edu/
Question 1 From the library website, look at the left column (under “Resources & Collections) and find “Database & Article Searching” and click on that. Look at the list of databases and see the first one “ABI/Inform Complete.” Next, scroll down about half way down the page and find “Lexis/Nexis: Academic Universe.” You will need both of these to complete the following questions. a) What is the first sentence on the top left side of page 1103 of the following article? Please write out the sentence exactly as it appears. Mitchell, T.R., Holtom, B.C., Lee, T.W., Sablynski, C.J., & Erez, M. (2001). Why people stay: Using job embeddedness to predict voluntary turnover. To complete question 1, here is how to get started in ABI/Inform….
At the main screen, choose “Advanced” (see the orange tab) then type in:
Sablynski
in the box.
Keeping the “AND” choice, type in “Why people stay” in the second text box.
In this example, you are making use of a relatively unusual name (Sablynski) along with the title of the article.

Now that you have this, click on “Full Text – PDF” to access the article in it’s print form (thus allowing you to see page numbers). For other types of research, you could simply click on the title (in blue text) or click “Text+Graphics”

The correct answer to question 1 is:

For question 2, you can simply cut and paste the info I gave you (above) and do a simple “Quick News Search” for the info I was looking for. You can switch the date to “previous year” (see below).
