To Calculate TA approximation in UMTS

STEPS

1. First take IOS trace data.

2.Open the Trace message file(*.tmf ) in TRACE VIEWER as shown in fig.1.

4. Double click the message PROPAGATION_DELAY and can see the details in RNCAP-CALL-TRACE-DATA-RPRT-MSG-STRU As message ((14 00010100 ......ucRachPropagDelay: 0*14(20)) as shown in fig 3.

4. Select the entire Propagation_delay message and through right click save the entire selected message in .txt Format as shown in fig 4.

5. Open the saved file in .xls as shown in fig 5.

6. Format the file as shown in fig 6

7. Take the last column value as required data (this data in HEX) and convert it into DEC as shown in fig 7

.

8. Now multiply the outcome by 3 and again by 75, whereas one second delay correspond to 3 chips and one chip delay correspond to 75 meters.The final result is distance in meters from where samples have been generated.
