    (2) Complete disassembly of a unit is not

always necessary in order to make a requiredrepair or replacement. Good judgment shouldbe exercised to keep disassembly and assemblyoperations to a minimum.

    (3) During assembly, assemblies andgroups should be assembled first, then installedto form a complete unit. Lubricate frictional(sliding) surfaces before assembly.

    b. Replacement of Parts.

    Section II. MAINTENANCE

    S-5. Specific

    Refer to table 5- 1.

    (1) Parts will be replaced, when unservice-

item is the total quantity of items authorizedfor the number of equipments supported. Sub-sequent appearances of the same item will havethe letters RE in the allowance columns.Items authorized for use as required but notfor initial stockage are identified with an as-terisk in the allowance column.

    (2) The quantitative allowances fororganizational level of maintenance representsone initial prescribed load for a 15-day periodfor the number of equipments supported. Unitsand organizations authorized additional pre-scribed loads will multiply the number ofprescribed loads authorized by the quantity ofrepair parts reflected in the appropriatedensity column to obtain the total quantityof repair parts authorized.

    (3) Organizational units providing main-tenance for more than 100 of these equipmentsshall determine the total quantity of parts re-quired by converting the equipment quantityto a decimal factor by placing a decimal pointbefore the next to last digit of the number toindicate hundredths, and multiplying the dec-imal factor by the parts quantity authorizedin the 51-100 allowance column. Example, authorized allowance for 51-100 equipments is12; for 140 equipments multiply 12 by 1.40 or16.80 rounded off to 17 parts required.

    (2) The quantitative allowances for DS/GSlevels of maintenance will represent initialstockage for a 30-day period for the numberof equipments supported.

    (3) Determination of the total quantity ofparts required for maintenance of more than100 of these equipments can be accomplishedby converting the equipment quantity to a dec-imal factor by placing a decimal point beforethe next to last digit of the number to indicatehundredths, and multiplying the decimalfactor by the parts quantity authorized in the51-100 allowance column. Example, authorizedallowance for 51-100 equipments is 40; for 150equipments multiply 40 by 1.50 or 60 partsrequired.

    m. l-Year Allow arlces Per 100 Equipments/Contingency Planning Pzcrposes. Indicatesopposite the first appearance of each item thetotal quantity required for distribution andcontingency planning purposes. The range ofitems indicates total quantities of all authorizeditems required to provide for adequate supportof 100 equipments for one year.
