Performing a search using TLC OpenData Datasets
This instruction guide applies to the ‘For Hire Vehicles (FHV) - Active and Inactive Vehicles’ dataset.
CITY OF NEW YORK
In order to determine whether an FHV is active and appears on list for the current day, first click on the dark blue ‘Filter’ button as shown by the arrow.
The filtering options appear to the right of your screen.
Next, click where it says “Add a New Filter Condition”.
You should now see an empty text box with a check box next to it.
Click on the blue-colored text labeled, “Active”.
You will now see a pop-up box that contains a listing of column names that you can use to filter the list. Select “Active”, if it wasn’t selected already, and then click outside of the pop-up box to close that box.
Next, type in the word “YES” , in capital letters, into the text box.
Then press the <ENTER> key on your keyboard.
The results of the search show all active FHV’s.
To add a second filter, click on the “Add a New Filter Condition” button.
Then click on the “Permit License Number” text.
You will now see a pop-up box that contains a listing of column names. Select ‘Permit License Number’ as your second filter, and click anywhere outside of the pop-up box to close that box.
Type in your license number, press the <ENTER> key on your keyboard.
The final results, with the two filters applied, are shown.
