January 2006 to Present: Clinical Operations Manager, Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service Outpatient Clinic, Egleston Campus. Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
Staff supervision and management of 25 RNs and 5 patient care technicians including recruitment/retention, preparation and presentation of annual performance evaluations, staff scheduling, conflict resolution, coordination and presentation of monthly staff meetings.
Operational collaboration with inpatient unit, Egleston, as well as in and outpatient units at Scottish Rite; monthly collaboration with service line leadership;
Daily collaboration with medical faculty for clinical operations. Collaboration with Practice Manager regarding financial performance and budgeting.
Process improvement development planning and implementation; occurrence notification system review; initiation and development and ongoing monitoring of customer service initiatives.
Regulatory leadership and oversight of Joint Commission (TJC) preparedness; instrumental in
multiple successful surveys, responsible for both staff and unit preparation.
Strategic planning with regard to bed capacity and patient flow, home care issues, master facilities planning.
Participation in System team meetings such as Management Leadership Team, Nursing Advisory Council, Continual Accreditation Readiness Team, and Magnet document preparation.

May 2002 to Jan 2006: Staff Nurse IV, Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service Outpatient Clinic, Egleston Campus. Nurse clinician role with managerial responsibilities: Worked in close collaboration with MD/PNP
team to manage large general oncology population: responsible for coordination of patient clinic visits and admissions based on individualized plan of care.
Emergency management of fever/neutropenia. Monitoring of blood counts, administration and
monitoring of chemotherapy infusions, blood products, antibiotics, etc.
Care of indwelling lines (portacath, PICC, CVL), venipunctures for IV starts, phlebotomy.
Instruction of pathophysiology and management of disease processes to patients and families.
Phone triage, home care coordination, and prior authorization of medications for insurance coverage.
Frequent preceptor. Managerial responsibilities as listed above, but
on part time basis. Instrumental in successful TJC survey,
responsible for both staff and unit presentation. Member of Positive Patient ID Team, Specimen
Collection. Member of High School Advisory Committee, on
Scholarship sub committee which determined state wide scholarship recipients. Assisted in creation of scoring matrix, conducted both phone and on site applicant interviews.
July 2001 to May 2002: Staff Nurse IV, Aflac Cancer Center and Blood Disorders Service, Inpatient Unit, Scottish Rite Campus. Nurse clinician role with managerial responsibilities: Clinical duties as outlined above, in an inpatient
setting. Acted as interim manager after current
manager’s resignation Managerial responsibilities included financial
oversight, monthly variance reporting, scheduling, monthly staff meetings, preparation and presentation of annual employee evaluations, budget development, and performing duties as requested by Service Line director.
Assisted in preparation and successful completion of TJC survey.
Supervised the completion of construction of new unit; coordinated move of patients, equipment, and staff with minimal disruption.
March 1997 to July 2001: Staff Nurse III, Day Surgery, Scottish Rite Campus. Relief charge nurse for busy outpatient surgery
area. Functioned independently to instruct patients
and families in pre and post-operative teaching. Immediate preoperative preparation of patients
for surgery including lab draws, IV starts, respiratory treatments, and premedication.
Active member of Standards and Practice Committee, involved with writing and implementation of policy standardization as campuses merged.
Frequent preceptor. Instrumental in assuring Annual Skills check offs
completed in a timely manner. Responsible for preparation and presentation of
one quarter of the department’s yearly staff evaluations.
1993-1996: Staff Nurse II, Hematology/Oncology, Egleston Children’s Hospital. Emory-Egleston Pediatric Care Foundation (EEPCF). Routinely cared for chemotherapy admissions as well as emergent fever and neutropenia admissions. Obtained daily labs via indwelling lines (portacath, PICC, CVL); administered antibiotics; blood products; various chemotherapy agents. Cared for patients before, during, and after bone marrow transplantation. During this time period, also worked in the EEPCF, performing the same duties in an outpatient setting.
1989-1992: Staff Nurse II, Pulmonary/Medical Unit and Day Surgery, Scottish Rite Children’s Medical Center. Assessment and monitoring of asthmatic patients, continuous and intermittent IV infusions, insertion of peripheral IV lines, trach care and suctioning, diabetic education, and NG/Gtube feedings. In Day Surgery area, staff nurse working in both pre and postoperative areas.
Pediatric Services of America 1995-1997: Private Duty RN, Norcross. Private duty RN for large pediatric home care agency.
Functioned independently in patient home assessments; administration of medications (oral, IV, and Gtube); NG/ Gtube intermittent and continuous feedings; suctioning, trach care; seizure care; respiratory treatments Patient/family education of disease processes and medications.
Clinical Arts Home Health Care Service, 1992-1995 : Case Manager, Monroe. Case manager for team of 65 patients in geriatric home health agency. Responsible for admissions, continuing recertification of need according to Medicare guidelines, and discharges. Independently completed assessments, obtained labs, administered various IV therapies (including chemotherapy) using both peripherally and centrally inserted lines, insertion and replacement of foley catheters, NG and Gtubes, pain management of terminally ill patients, palliative care and wound care.
