I want to use a different way of entering data so I click onthe tools icon and save the table. Then the prefered wayof entering data comes up.

Now I am laying out the structure of the table.The first field is stuid that is short text and thefield size I established as 5.This field also has the primary key next to itwhich means that every record will need tohave a unique stuid. If you try to enter a stuidthat already exists you will get an error.

The second field is stuname which is alsoshort text and the field size is set at 50.

Now I am adding major. It is also short text with field size 2.

The gpa is a numeric field. The field size is setat single for a small decimal number.

The numCredits field is also numeric and it has Integer as the field size.

I entered a variety of data.

I closed the table. Then I clicked on Create followed by Query Wizard toset up a query. A query is something I can set up to extract a list ofinformation that meets the criteria I establish.

I select the stu table and clickon Add at the bottom of the screen.

I am putting CI in quotes on the criteria under the majorfield. That means that the only records display will be oneswith a CI in the major field.

Now I am adding > 3 under the gpa so I am asking to displayall records that havae a CI in major and >3 in gpa.Note that these two things are in an AND relationship.

Now I have moved the >3 from the criteria lineto the OR line. I now have major has to be CI OR gpa has to be > 3. This is an ORrelationship.

Now I have three things in an OR relationship.The line below the or line can also be used asan OR line. I have >15 under numCredits.So I have major of CI or gpa > 3 or numCredits > 15.

If the > 15 was on the same line as the > 3then we have CI or both gpa > 3 and numCredits > 15

To make this work the CI is on both thecriteria line and the OR line so this readsmajor CI and gpa > 3 ORmajor CI and numCredits > 25
So CI is true in both which is a requirement.
